From the Ashes || Amon&Marcus
Marcus immediately picked up the offer cup of tea. The glass of warm to the touch but not enough to burn his fingertips. he set his lips upon its edge and tilted that beautiful liquid into his mouth. It tasted like heaven. Heâd not experienced these luxuries in ages; showers, tea, clean clothesâŚit was like living in a dream. He sighed as he swallowed. It tasted more like heaven than just a mere dream.
"This is as good as any four star." Marcus laughed.
"Out there," He pointed off handedly at the large windows to the front of the boxerâs home. "its so different. Its like youâd never imagine, ever sinceâŚitâs rough." He looked back down to his cup, adjusting it between his palms.
"Wow, steak." He straightened up, already imagining the flavor of the meat. Another thing that was unheard of these days. "I feel like a parasite." He smiled apologetically. He took and took and took but had nothing to give back to this generous man. "Iâm sorry I have so little to give." His mind quickly sifting through the contents of his pack and finding naught.Â
Amon watched hiding his glee behind his stony facade. Oh this was so easy, he was so trusting. Humans, in and of themselves, were like cattle you barked loud enough and they would change every direction and wander right to their deaths. It was perhaps the best trait about them as a whole. He took a drink of his tea, he could feel the liquid warm it's way through his cold body past the no longer beating heart of his host and to his stomach.
He didn't need to eat, ever but perhaps it was just his want to blend in that encouraged him to do so. He ran his tongue over his teeth, his eyes trained on the man before him listening to him talk with fake interest in his words. In reality he was just waiting, waiting for the little rabbit to feel comfortable enough to relax completely, to turn his back and sleep. And then his fun would begin. "Yes, the pleasures of owning your own gym, people don't expect much of it so they don't mess with it. I'm indeed blessed" The last word felt like acid on his tongue, oh he could feel the angels above shuddering as such a precious word became vile on his lips. Yes, revel in the fact that poor wee Marcus was un-saveable, he had taken an apple from the garden and followed the snake home. "Truly blessed" he smiled a toothy grin, setting his cup down he turned his back to Marcus and returned to the steak in the fridge. He set it with a good hefty thunk on the counter, he'd have to thank his little 'friends' for catching such a prize, honestly, the man should've run faster but he would make a great dinner. He'd have to remember to feed his 'friends' later, after all a dogs appetite was quiet carnivorous. He quickly cooked up the steak, leaving it pink in the center and juicy setting it down in front of Marcus, hopefully such a good select wasn't to suspicious but he knew that he could, with his velvet tongue calm what ever nerve arouse easily. "You are a guest, and a lovely one at that" he smiled taking his seat again and cutting into the meat, he smiled to himself about the mans comment, nothing to give indeed. "Trust me friend, your companionship is gift enough" he smiled to himself but in his mind blood coated his thoughts. He would give himself to him, and he would swallow Marcus whole. He would soon regret and realize, he followed the devil home.
