a week in the life
Last week was kind of hectic, so I didn’t get the chance to write. So, just to recap my what and whereabouts, here’s how the week went:
finally back on track … -ish
I’ve caught up with my backlogs and am now back on track with my Bible reading plan. I finished reading the Books of Daniel and Haggai last week (and just finished the Book of Zechariah today!) And after a year (jeez!), i finally finished reading Joy at Work, as well.
This just goes to show how discipline and intentionality can really make things possible. I also realized that I actually have a lot of “free” time — and when i choose to spend it wisely, I am capable of doing more, growing more, and ultimately becoming better. At the end of the day, it’s really about the choices we make, isn’t it?
new things this week ⋆˙⟡
Other than Oatside’s chocolate drink — which I actually liked btw — another thing I decided to try this week was this prequel (Elle) to one of my favorite movies, Legally Blonde. I love Elle Woods so much that, at one point in my life, I was genuinely convinced that I could become a lawyer because of her! Haha
And speaking of new things, another one I got to try yesterday was this coffee shop called CHAPTER Coffee Roastery & Cafe, where I started reading the next book on my list — Atomic Habits by James Clear.
thank you, Jesus … as always! ♥︎
But what really got me preoccupied this week were my hospital visits and doctor appointments.
Just to backtrack a bit, I had underwent a lot of tests from April this year due to my leg cramps and some small reddish lumps that randomly appear on my shins (I was diagnosed with bilateral venous insufficiency).
And last May, what seemed like an adnexal cyst was seen in my lower abdomen ultrasound. As instructed by my OB-GYN, we had to wait for my next two menstrual cycles before having another ultrasound to check whether the cyst would eventually resolve on its own (meaning, gets “dissolved”) or increase in size. From there, we would discuss the next steps depending on the results.
By August 4, Tuesday. I went to the hospital to consult with my OB. However, since the schedule for ultrasound was already full that morning, I was scheduled on Thursday instead.
Thursday came. I underwent an ultrasound and thank God, the cyst was no longer there. It’s been cleared! 🥺🤍
I went back yesterday, Saturday, to consult with my OB. Since the cyst was no longer there, what I discussed with her next was my painful dysmenorrhea and hormonal imbalance. To which, she explained to me the possibility of having endometriosis. Ang hirap naman maging babae! 🥲
Right now, I am currently taking meds for my bilateral venous insufficiency (the veins on both my legs are weak that the blood doesn’t circulate or flow properly back to the heart). I think I’m already on my fourth month. My leg cramps have improved a little but the red soft lumps still appear from time to time.
The past weeks, I’ve also been feeling a pain that started in my lower left abdomen and which is now on the lower left area of my back. When I consulted this with my Internal Med doctor, he thinks that it’s more of a muscle issue due to my prolonged sitting and/or posture instead of kidney or GI issues (since my blood tests and ultrasound results are clear). I’m planning to get second opinion though to stop my overthinking.
I just turned thirty this year. And the moment I turned thirty, that’s when I started feeling all these body pains. Literal na signs of aging haha! 🫠 Kidding aside, this has been another reality check. I’m not getting any younger. And if I want to try new things and experience life more, I need to be serious about taking care of my health.
03 august ‘26 — cozy weather ⛆ 。°
So it’s that time of the year. It’s been raining a lot lately. And it’s been awhile. For a change, it felt good not to think too much about how I present myself outside 🥴😆
Also, look at Coco lying so comfortably on my doormat!
02 august ‘26 — gyst day! ⋆˙⟡ ᯓ
My favorite day of the month! I don’t know when was the last time that I did a GYST day. Last February, perhaps? Before life got busy and so tiring that during rest days, what I just did was to doomscroll all day (ugh!).
today’s to-do list:
start reading: Book of Daniel
go on a solo date
journal
resume reading: Joy at Work
monthly goals
weekly schedule
What a very productive weekend! ♥︎
01 aug ‘26 — hello, august! ⋆ ˚。𖦹 ⋆
Still catching up with my missed Bible plans. And today, I finished reading the Book of Esther. Key takeaway?
No matter how bad things get, God is committed to redeeming His world. Hence, we have to trust His providence even when we can’t see it working ♥︎
I also did a 15-minute yoga before bed to calm my mind. Definitely a must try! ⟡ ⋆˙

about last weekend ⋆˙⟡
I crossed a few things off my backlogs (yay!) —
Since it’s a weekend, I decided to watch Voicemails for Isabelle. I’ve been wanting to watch it the past weeks and at last, the time has come. It’s been a while since I felt good watching a movie. I laughed, I cried. But my favorite part? Probably the ending. That’s what really got me ♥︎ And can we talk about LSS? Dancing on My Own has been living rent-free in my head all week! T’was good.
Another one off my list. After a long pause, I finally made it through the Book of Ezekiel 🙌🏻
One thing that I love the most about Bible reading is being always reminded of God’s unending mercies and unconditional love. I haven’t been the most consistent in my quiet times these past months, and this verse is one of the verses that spoke to me the most:
EZEKIEL 36:26 KJV
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
It felt like God was inviting me back — not with guilt, but with grace. It was a quiet reminder from God that new beginnings are always possible. It was as if God was saying, “You can start again.”
And so, we begin.
oh, how hard it is to wait;
but then again, isn’t it what makes it all the more worth it?
I was focused on watching each of her labored breathing. She's giving it her all. She already finds it hard to do what was supposed to be an easy and normal task. But you know what's more heartbreaking? Watching these people arrive one after the other. For a long time in awhile, her room is finally packed with familiar faces. It's filled with people who are dear to her. Of people she loved all her life. For the past years, she's always been longing for their attention. They were all busy living their lives. While she was stuck there --- in her room, waiting for them to give her attention. And finally today, they were all able to give her the time and attention she was longing for. They ditched their jobs. They took the bus that departs early just to reach home as soon as possible. So it is possible after all. They all made it possible just when she was already counting each breath that leaves her mouth. I love you, Nanay. I am sorry that life has been this harsh to you these past years. While I still want you stay with us, I know that you deserve better. I know that you deserve to rest and be at peace.
What hurts is the fact that you shared your soul with them just to be strangers again.
“I lied and said I was busy.
I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.
I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.
Sometimes, this is my busy -
and I will not apologize for it.”

Isn’t choosing oneself supposed to be freeing? But why am I weeping?
the sky be crying for us fr
Have been feeling this for months now and here I am finally coming out — I feel like I’ve been silent quitting. Silent quitting in my job. Silent quitting in my relationship with Miguel. Oh, I’m damned.

After months of pushing it back, I finally watched the Barbie movie. To be completely honest, I agree that the movie was overrated but tbf, its message moved me. It made me feel something (again) so it’s not totally a waste of time. More than the message on women empowerment and/or feminism, what resonated with me more was when Barbie said that she doesn’t feel like herself anymore. When she said that she doesn’t know herself and what she wants anymore. In short, the lack of her sense of purpose.

• the road not taken
Here goes another batch of new lawyers and my feed is filled again with congratulatory posts. Every time this season comes, I couldn’t help but feel heavy. Hanggang ngayon, what if ko pa rin talaga siya. And it’s starting to emotionally and mentally drain me. I couldn’t focus at work today ‘cause I’ve been thinking — tuwing may lalabas bang bar results, lagi ko nalang tatanungin iyong sarili ko “what if nag-law school ako?” “what if i-pursue ko?” “abogada na rin kaya ako ngayon?”
Am I just pressured? It doesn’t help that I took Econ-PolSci in college. That’s mainly the reason why I’m being surrounded with lawyers and lawyers-to-be — my friends, blocmates, and org mates from college, and even some former classmates way back in high school. One of my best friends is even planning to enter law school next year.
Or is this something that I really want deep inside that I’m just continuously ignoring? I really hated the expectations from family/relatives years ago that’s why I dropped the possibilities. I didn’t wanna please them because they wanted me to become a lawyer. I want to show them that I can and should be who I wanna be. I didn’t wanna listen to the extent that if they tell to me to do something, I’d do the opposite. That’s how much I hated being pressured.
But now, being it my constant what if, I’m starting to consider the possibility of me entering law school too. I am tired of always asking myself if kakayanin ko ba? But at the same time, I’m contemplating if this curiosity is worth the risk? I need to sacrifice a lot of things — time, money, energy, rest, my comfort. And I am pretty sure that I have to be mentally and emotionally strong as well. Worth it ba talaga just to answer my question if kaya ko bang maging abogado rin? Worth it ba knowing that another thing that I considered when I turned my back to this path is believing that it is not for me because I feel like I am too vulnerable to become a lawyer? Auqna.
• … and they’d be leaving too :(
It also didn’t help that these remaining four will be leaving for a while to enlist. They’ve been my happy pills FR. Muntik pa akong may ma-miss out na client 🥲 Good thing tho that these four went live tonight.

Nothing special about today except for it’s Kim Seokjin’s birthday 💜 I miss him lots and can’t wait for June 2024. I miss my OT7 🥺

It’s currently 09:03 in the evening and I just finished my workload for today. Tamad na tamad ako mag-work, 2pm na ako nag-start tapos may 30-minute breaks pa in between hahaha
