here's my theory that no one asked for: we now know from this era that she has a list of phrases and words and one-liners she likes and wants to use in songs in the future when the time is right. i think "life was a willow and it bent right to your wind" is a line she wrote in the speak now era and knew she would use eventually so she just threw this easter egg in not knowing when the payoff would be. and with that in mind, her work is probably littered with easter eggs of songs she has yet to write...
