and we've STILL only scratched the surface of Daniel's turning, arguably the only real cliffhanger from the s2 finale. was it really the forced, violent act we've been led to believe? what was the catalyst? why did Armand leave?

it's true that nothing actually in the show itself thus far excludes the possibility that dm became an actual relationship at some point within those 52 years. Armand is known to lie, including by omission, and considering how poorly Daniel has received what he's learned of Armand's involvement in his life thus far and the memory wipe of San Francisco, it's easy to understand why Armand would be reluctant to disclose more, especially when he didn't even plan to confess to Daniel yet in the first place.

the issue is that early last week an article was released where Rolin Jones said the following: "In the book, it's all about a human and a vampire falling in love. We've removed that, and we've also aged [Molloy] up, so we have different circumstances"

now, this article is a bit sloppy. it gets QotD's publication date wrong by a decade, which could have been a simple typo, but it's a bad look that no one cared enough to proofread/factcheck. it's possible the quote is not completely accurate or lacking further context. it's also, and perhaps even more, possible that Rolin is just fucking lying because he has also been known to do that, probably to avoid spoiling his own show but perhaps also just for sport.

however, it is impossible to avoid what has been so clearly stated if there was no real incentive to lie when something more vague could have been said instead if the goal was to obscure future reveals

peace and love to everyone but it's giving:

his daughter graduated from a four year university (Rice) in 2002. therefore she cannot be the result of Alice's 1985 pregnancy, as that kid would have only been around 13 when Graduate Daughter started classes. this confirms something of the hazy timeline from the infamous Buick anecdote insofar there was in fact a daughter in 1978 (7 years before car seats became mandatory, aka 1985) and it wasn't entirely a weird transposition in memory. but who was her mother? does Daniel have a mysterious unmentioned babymama out there? or was she Alice's first child, and if so, why did Daniel only propose when Baby #2 was on the way, several years after the first one? and why, if Alice rejected his first proposal because she considered him too untrustworthy to marry, did she stay with him so long and have a whole second child with him?

the 1985 pregnancy alone now has a weirder timeline:

Alice announces she's pregnant to Daniel while they're in Paris (presumably in the first trimester if she'd just recently found out)

they're still in Paris during her third trimester when Daniel proposes, after "getting his shit together" some unspecified time earlier

Alice rejects him due to trust issues

she then accepts another attempt while they're still in Paris

they marry

Daniel relapses and ends up under an overpass while Alice is still pregnant
