I don't care how poor a person is, if they're choosing to trade their time or labor for money, and aren't being coerced through any means other than needing to earn money, they aren't being "forced" into labor no matter what they're choosing to do. I hate this retarded socialist idea that needing to put forth any effort to survive is somehow immoral and a failing of society/capitalism/whatever. Just as much as I hate the idea that a person choosing to voluntarily trade time or effort is little, if any, different than slavery. It's also, to borrow a term I hate but people who think this way love to throw around, very classist to assume that a poor person is incapable of choosing what kind of work they do, or being able to make financial decisions for themselves.
But how would you divide the world into strict oppressor/oppressed binaries without ignoring all context to paint things in the most dramatic light possible?
not to borrow another term those people love to throw around, but "people shouldn't have to work to survive" is the single most privileged take i've ever heard.
survival is not, and has never in the history of the universe, been effortless. the world does not just provide the means to survive for anything that lives in it.
to put it very simply: if you're not working for your own survival, someone else is.
"B-b-but we have TECHNOLOGY! That means nobody should have to work!" /s
Its not unpaid labor but it is underpaid labor, profits are stolen wages, big companies focus should be all their employees making more money annually not the ceo getting his stacks of cash higher annually while everyone else makes the same wage thats worth less and less every year. People hate work because working hard and doing your job well only benefits a bunch of rich people up at the top getting fatter and fatter while they also strip workers of more and more rights, protections and benefits so they can again, get more fucking money for themselves. Y'all wanna talk about people not having to work at all to survive being dumb? Lets talk about the assholes sitting on stacks of bloodmoney spending all day buying every apple product in existence just to destroy for yt views and fucking kids on islands. Yes people should have to work, but your labor is worth a lot more than you've been led to believe by this shitstain capitalist hellhole of a world.
but no yeah lets have the conversation:
"the CEO doesnt want to run that kind of website" Excuse, shouldnt have bought the 'go nuts show nuts whatever' website if thats the case. APPEAL DENIED
"we have to follow the TOS of the appstores we're hosted on" Excuse item one, no you dont, item two, you have since those days implimented infrastructure that would allow pornography and sex work on this platform Without violating TOS of any applicable app store. APPEAL DENIED
"we own the site we get to make the rules" Incorrect, this site has only ever made profit when the users willed it. we collectively own the site as a hive mind and no legal change in ownership will change that. APPEAL DENIED
"we have to keep this website safe for the children who use it" Argument based on fallacy banning pornography and sex workers does not prevent pornography and sex work from occuring on the site, it only forces aforementioned users to hide and avoid labling their content appropriately, which REDUCES the safety for children and sex workers alike instead of increasing it, this has been shown to the point that making this argument at all is tantamount to admiting fascist intent APPEAL DENIED
Reblog it. I want this to be on Tumblr radar by end of the week, i want my notes to be useless from the discourse, i want every single person on Tumblr to have seen this post at some point
