promised relaxation and 'me' time for the day granted to his beloved wife, bringing the father of four alone with three of his children now running about, scattered in the snow-covered field. laughter, thuds, followed by even louder fits of laughter echoing from where he stood. smile soon clings to his features, watching them find merriment even in the simplest offerings of the resort. one quick look and he spots something fall into the mounds of snow, catching up with the owner of the pocket from where it must have fallen from, ❝ here , you dropped this . ❞

 “      ah,   thanks.      ”     gloved   hand   gratefully   accepts   the   offering,   tucking   it   with   ease   back   into   his   pocket   and   buttoning   it   this   time.        “      i   think   i’d   lose   my   own   head   if   it   wasn’t   attached.      ”    his   focus   stands   more   on   his   own   children   -   working   with   care   on   a   snowman   that’s   seen   better   days   already.   sansa   had   told   him   earlier,   with   a   certainty   in   her   voice   only   children   can   carry,   that   they   would   build   the   best   snowman   ever   and   name   him   frank   of   all   things.   he’ll   be   called,   soon,   to   go   help   them   lift   the   too-heavy   snow   ball   onto   the   other,   but   for   now   he   has   time   to   rest.   the   silence   holds   between   the   pair   of   them,   before   cedric   shifts   in   place   -   nodding   to   the   field   full   of   children.    “      are,   uh,   are   any   of   them   yours?      ”

“    no.    ”   affectionate   familiarity   is   held   towards   lordling   who   holds   her   in   her   arms,   gently   as   though   she   matters.   it   warm   her   to   think   who   he   might   be   —   memory   a   blur   as   she   attempts   to   gaze   upon   him.   the   attempt   pains   her   so,   lashes   fluttering   as   lids   draw   closed.   lucretia?   thats....that's   her.   yes,   that   feels   right.    “    i   -   no,   i'm   not   alright.   it’s …. everything.    ”

without  a  thought,  bash  grabbed  their arm, preventing them from walking around the corner and into the path of the group of smallfolk there. a finger was held to his lips. courage burned brightly, blinding eyes to other considerations, but sliver of sense managed to hold him in place. one against such a large group would result in only more wounds - or an end to life's journey. sebastian waited until the shouts and footsteps faded before glancing around the corner.  ❝  they've moved on. ❞
