Leaving
Heather stood on the stern of the boat, setting sail off the island. This was just too hard, the stakes just too high. Though she was saying goodbye to her photography program and possibly her chances at becoming a photographer, she just couldn’t take this place anymore. It seemed the only option to quit her job at Dark Desires, to get her shifter forms back, to avoid all the pain this island caused her. Though she would deeply miss her new friends, she knew it was for the best.
Heather needed freedom, and this island offered her none. She held her breath, waiting for her memories to slip away as she left the island. Soon her mind would be emptied of most of her time there and she’d be spared of this hollow feeling in her chest. She looked down to her arm where she’d written one sentence that the school luckily allowed.

Heather stared out at the island. College had been okay, and she’d learned a lot from her classes and made some cool friends but it just wasn’t for her. She looked down at her arm where she’d apparently written herself a memo.
‘You’ll miss it, but do not go back there’
She read over the words and contemplated them. Why would she be so firm about an average college experience? It seemed fine in her memories... but Heather shrugged. She often ran from things, this was no surprise to her. With a deep breath of sea air, she wiped a stray tear from her cheek and moved to stand at the bow, wondering what her next adventure might be.
