Guy went against a plan everyone in his dorm, including Leona who he used to idealise, had been on. This plan, as bad as it was, was for a lot of Savanaclaw students their nearly only hope to get scouted and make it as pro. That is ground to give birth to a lot of resentment, and Savanaclaw was shown to be quite the brash dorm, I don’t think they would forgive Jack that easily.

And like… Jack already had issues in Savanaclaw beforehand, seeing how he was targeted by a group of nearly 30 students who wanted to beat him down if he didn’t stop playing for the dorm, and only got away thanks to Leona’s intervention (see Leona’s dorm card vignette, which happens before book 2). And now with Jack being the reason their plan failed, the reason why they lost to Diasomnia again and couldn’t be scouted? Yeah, they are not going to kindly stay put, even if Leona and Ruggie try to step down. To them, Jack is a self-righteous snitch and traitor, and wouldn’t those kind of people deserve the consequences of their actions?

And it’s not like Jack would have it much better outside his dorm, because how many students are aware of how exactly Leona’s plan failed? There was only the Heartslabyul gang and the Diasomnia family in the confidence, so for most of the other students, all of Savanaclaw’s students must have been in it, including Jack. Heck, considering that Jack was in the Spelldrive team and the whole plan was about it, it would make more sense for most students that he was an accomplice.

And sure Jack would still have friends with Yuu, Grim, Ace, Deuce and Epel (and much later Ortho and Sebek). But is it enough when everyone else are against you? When not only your school environment but also the place you live in full of people who resent you and who would be showing it very clearly? When you are the target of endless cruel words and angry violence, because you dared going against an unfair plan that injured people?

Factor in that romantic feelings tend to increase libido and I can see Jamil going into something like a rut or heat for his first time with his s/o

NRC is a university type academia in my imagination because I find that more interesting, so this could’ve been feasibly possible… however we also must remember that Jamil is also the self imposed cockblock final boss

I can’t truly see Jamil seeking out hookups like that for a long time (or ever really), though I do reallyyyy enjoy the idea of him in his 20’s being ashamed of how he’ll go out of his way to find discreet partners, this self loathing at any unleashment of weakness (as he views) that Jamil just loves to practice.

But then like yeah let’s imagine he now has to share a room with Kalim and he’s all fuckkk this sucks but whatever I’ve been doing this since I was 4, we roll. But Jamil is an inherently hypocritical person, saying he can handle abstinence (to a point of not even touching himself since Kalim’s always there) while becoming more irritable as the months pass, refusing to acknowledge his state in any capacity

Realistically, he reasons, is that he’s been taking rut suppressants since his gene dominance was diagnosed. He can handle this.

Which he does, but then he starts dating you and he’s clawing off his own skin in frustration

At some point you have to notice it, right? How Jamil becomes so short with you any time you try to initiate sex, flinching away at skin to skin contact, subtly covering his nose when you’re near. You’re really starting to think you forced him into the relationship

Ahh, pathetically obstinate Jamil who’s having a harder and harder time concealing his arousal whenever you’re near. Muttering a half baked excuse as he locks himself in the bathroom cubicle, eyes narrowed at the embarrassing tent in his pants. Something about him having to jerk himself off while being sooo pissed about, teeth grit and eyes seething is both super funny and deeply hot to me

Everything is so sensitive lately and he doesn’t know why, making the frustration all the more palpable as he clenches when he rubs his tip. It’s literally his first rut, overspill of blocked hormones enforcing a certain edged potency into his movements. He loves you so much which is why he can’t let you leave his bed when you try to crawl away, frightening you as his hands curl gently to encircle your calf, effortlessness and smooth as he drags you back to him. Even in delirium he’s flustering you by whispering in your ear, pretty voice complimenting the stinging way he’s been using your body

He’s so fucking ashamed when he wakes up, or I should say comes to consciousness, three days later with you in his clothes, his bed, smelling almost disgustingly of him. If cloud nine were a place, he’d shove everybody else off because he was the only one who deserved that euphoria right now

I think it would be really funny if Jamil thinks he somehow got away from letting Kalim come to notice, but then he finds a letter on his bed with a recommendation to a nearby restaurant, detailing how Kalim’s so excited he’s finally not so pent up and snappy all the time and that he finally stopped taking those suppressants! Turns out Kalim had checked in on you two while Jamil was asleep and was all the merrier to inform Jamil to let him know if he needs to be out of the dorm for a night or two

Ahyup last time we had Idia in Scarabia!! So today I present to you.... VIL IN IGNIHYDE!!!!

I first had a different idea in mind, that being that Vil has a pretty decent time but due to the introverted nature of the dorm he feels lonely and misses his fellow Pomefiore friends. Then I looked up Idia's outfit for the drawing and....it sure is... uf. I think the biggest fashion crime is his jacket. Bro do you REALLY need them geometridash shapes 😭😭😭😭??? and the shoes????

So yeah, Vil would probably not be too worried about leading Ignihyde, if anything I feel like he would try to improve everyones living conditions as much as possible!!! Plus he knows Ortho from film club, so they would get along just swell :3

The Housewarden swap is back!

Last time we had Azul in Savanaclaw, so this time I BRING YOU IDIA IN SCARABIA!!!!

Oh boy, what to say. I mean I think we all know Idia would SUFFEERRRRR in Scarabia. The heat? Would kill him. The extroverted students? Would kill him. All the attempts on Kalim's life which would now accidentally happen to him? Well they won't kill him with Jamil at his side at least.

But everything in this dorm is built against him, so he just has to do with what he has. So of course he builds a high security system for himself. That way he can stay closed up in his room without Jamil having to keep an eye on him all the time.

Still, all of this was way too much socializing for him. But once he goes back to his own dorm, Ortho congratulates him on getting out of his comfort zone! :D

Jamil was kinda fed up with Idia at first, but honestly the introvert grew on him.

Today marks the halfway point!!! We've only got 3 more housewardens to go!! >:D

Just a series of things I've noticed over the years! The topic was on my mind again since it came up recently in Little Big Adventure.

Twst seems to have its own set of languages which do not exist on Earth.

An unknown magical force automatically translates everything Yuu reads and hears into an Earth-based equivalent language so they can understand it. I assume that everything Yuu writes and/or says is also automatically translated into the Twst common tongue. This is hinted at in the light novel, but not in other adaptations.

Certain countries and/or areas in Twst seem to correlate with certain languages in the real world. For example, Ultramarine City has many Italian words, Fleur City/the City of Flowers has many French words, etc.

There's a common tongue (literally called Common) that is used to communicate across cultures and languages. (We don't have names for any other Twst language.) In most cases, the main cast and/or NPCs are speaking Common.

Speaking Cat seems to involve coordination of both vocalizations and hand/paw movements. We see examples of this in Azul (book 3) and in Ruggie's Dorm Uniform groovy.

Fae are able to infuse their voices with magic so that they can instantly communicate with other kinds of fae, even if their dialects or actual spoken languages are different.

An ancient nocturnal fae dialect sounds like animalistic growling and screeching.

Diurnal fae (at least the smaller pixies) speak in what sounds like tinkling bells to the human ear.

It's rare to find speakers of fae in modern day, but fae languages are considered proud and noble traditional languages. I have to wonder if this linguistic rarity is, in part, due to the colonization of Briarland. (That is to say, Briarland being conquered result in nocturnal fae culture and language being subdued and erased?)

It's difficult for the human ear to make sense of the nocturnal fae's language(s), as humans' hearing range is very narrow compared to otehr animals. It seems that just having some fae blood (like Sebek does) can allow you to detect minute sounds that a human wouldn't be able to.

Not all animal languages are made equal. Apparently, Mouse is more difficult because there is a significant size difference between humans and rodents. (Smaller voices are harder to hear, so it's hard for humans to detect subtle pronunciation.)

It sounds like Animal Linguistics increase in complexity as your year level increases. For example, third years like Trey know more Mouse than first and second years.

Jamil’s UM allows him to hypnotize living beings, but he cannot control animals unless he is able to communicate with them in their own language.

Chipmunk is also stated to be a difficult language, and, in retrospect, I wonder if that's because of the size difference thing.

Hedgehogs can understand mole, and I assume vice-versa. Ace states in his Dorm Uniform vignettes that these animals share an order (Eulipotyphla), so this seems to imply linguistic similarities in animals that share an order. Maybe they're even considered slightly different dialects? This is further supported by Ruggie's Dorm Uniform vignettes, where Trein says "hyenas belong to the same suborder as cats—feliformia—making them particularly suited to hunting rodents."

According to Jack, not all beastmen speak and/or understand the language(s) of the animal they share DNA with.

According to Ortho, there exists programs which compile animal linguistics data. He was able to make a rudimentary Cat translator, although it's not very accurate.

Questions I have:

I wonder if it's ONLY arcane academies that teach Animal Linguistics, since it doesn't sound like you need to use magic to speak the language of an animal...

What languages does NRC teach, and to what extent??? In the real world, it can take one person several years to master a single language, yet it sounds like there is a single Animal Linguistics course that covers multiple languages. But surely that can't be the case???? You would never be able to get to even a basic conversational level considering the rich variety of animals you'd have to cover over the course of just a few years.

Does the bond between a mage and their familiar override the need to communicate using Animal Linguistics? I've never seen Trein communicate with Lucius in Cat, yet Lucius still seems to perfectly understand Trein. Does Lucius just understand him because they've been together since he was a kitten? Cuz the chipmunks don't seem to understand human Common at all, even though they appear to live in a tree in Foothill Town, constantly around humans.

If humans can learn animal languages, can animals learn human languages???

Do merfolk have their own languages which are hard for non-mer to learn because of how mers’ bodies have adapted to producing sounds underwater and with fish parts?
