“Oh, I didn’t say that. Some of the scariest people look perfectly nice.” She smiled, teasing him just a little. He didn’t set off any alarm bells in her though, at least not yet. Most people were perfectly nice. It was not being able to tell the difference that was frightening. “Just a little cabin fever. I thought I would enjoy it being above freezing while I can. What about you?”

“Well I came here to do some research which is why it might have looked like I was irritated which I can assure you I wasn’t obviously.” He reassures the other. “It’s easier to do my research here instead of the office since I have all the reading material I could possibly need at my fingertips.” 

“i definitely will bring her, maybe even for just a checkup.” they smiled grabbing one of their pencils “sweet, i’ll make sure i do good.” harry chuckled before they started to sketch in the sketchbook, glancing up at stiles every once in awhile to make sure they got all the details.

“Perfect. She will be in the best of care.” He reassures the male as he went back to reading as Harry was continuing to draw the picture of him. Stiles did his best to not move to much as to disturb the other’s drawing. 

A surging look of surprise and panic flooded Harley’s face. he’d never had anyone realise his secret let alone be so non-chalant about it. “I think I’ll take you up on that drink, what did you say your name is?” the drink sounded nice, it could help clear his head until he got home.

“My name is Lucifer. Lucifer Morningstar. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.” He flashes his charming smile at the other as he buttoned his vest jacket. “Well shall we?” Lucifer gestures for the male to follow him to the bar around the corner and holds the door open for them. 

Harley eyed the man up and down, he felt intimidated by his pure confidence and the atmosphere around him. What exactly did he mean by he runs the place?

”Just a late night is all” he said and late it was Harley could even still smell the wet dog on himself and his breath. Harley hated to lie but he worried more about people knowing of his ‘affliction’.

To Harley, he considered Lycanthropy to be a curse and he would do anything to get rid of it but that wasn’t going to happen, so for now he thought hiding it was for the best, for the safety of himself and others.

“Mhm is that what they are calling it now a days? You know you aren’t the first werewolf to run into me, let’s just say it’s fate. How about I get you a drink on the house? I own a little bar down the road from here and it might help get your mind off some otherworldly troubles for a while.” Lucifers offers. 

“Of course I do, my love. Spending time with you will always be one of the most important things in my life. And besides you are great company” Magnus then kissed his cheek and chuckled softly. “May even give you a spare key. Makes no sense for me to not have you in my home all the time”

“I sure hope that I am.” He mumbled before smiling as he felt the other kissing his cheek. “Is that your way of asking me to move in with you?” Alec teases as they continued to walk. 

The morning after a change had always been the worst time for Harley. He didn’t wish to be seen or forced to interact with anyone. This morning in particular he found himself in an alley in the middle of town, itching from the dirt in his hair and the soreness in his joints. His head pounding, almost like the worst hangover Harley had ever experienced. Luckily, he’d remembered this time to book the day after the full moon off from work. To go from being an animal all night to looking after animals all day was too much for him to deal with. 

Since arriving in Sallow Hills, Harley had mostly kept to himself, this town confused him, a  place where fictional, supernatural and average humans all mixed as if nothing was going on. At least he didn’t have to hide his ‘affliction’ too much from others because everyone already knew. 

Walking down the town was starting to come alive, it was early morning, shop owners were starting to open up, and the first patrons of the day were roaming the town. “Fuck, i’m gonna need some asprin or something for this” Holding his hand on his head, he felt a thump on his chest and got knocked back a couple steps. After steadying himself he realised he must’ve walked into someone. “Oh, are you alright? Sorry I’ve had a rough night.”

Lucifer had been walking around thinking about what he was going to do for the day before he felt someone running right into him. He gave the other a once over and it was evident that the other did in fact have a rough night. “Yeah I can definitely tell by the way you are carrying yourself. Looks like you’ve been through hell and believe me I would know seeming as I run the place.” He smirked. “But regardless of that, what caused you to have a rough night.” 

“Yes. P.I may not be all that far from being a Shadowhunter. But.. it still surprises me. In a good way, of course. It’s comforting to know that you still want to protect people and be there for them” he smiled. “Mhm well we are almost at my home. Can you be patient for a little while longer?”

“Of course I can. I just you know...want to be able to remember my way to your place since I assume I will maybe be there a lot? I mean if you want me to be there obviously.” He says with a small smile as he squeezed the other’s hand. 

“Couldn’t agree more. Which is why I take my job as mayor so seriously. I don’t want people who want to harm others to roam these streets freely. I want to make sure to put a dent in their plans. I need to make sure they know that around here? They need to stay on the right side of the law”

“It’s nice that someone is taking their job seriously around here to help keep the crime out of the streets. As long as there is someone to enforce the law around here I think most people should be behaving I would imagine. There wouldn’t be much room for any deviation.” He shrugged.

“nice to meet you too, stiles.” they gave him a small smile as they opened up a blank sheet of their sketchbook, hoping stiles didn’t see any of their old ones. “you’re a vet? thats really cool. i had an owl once. i have a cat now.” they tapped their fingers on the blank sheet “do you uh mind if i sketch you? in a non creepy way i promise.”

“Well if your cat ever doesn’t feel well feel free to stop by sometime.” He smiles before looking over at the other. “Sure, if you want to you can. It will probably be easy for you since I am mostly reading right now.” Stiles tells the other as he turned his attention back to his reading. 

Everything the other did surprised Magnus, truth be told. When he finally thought he had him all figured out, he was met with yet another surprising fact about the man he loved. Everything he said, everything he did would always bring this sense of surprise. It’s like he got to know him more and more by each passing day. And that was refreshing. It meant that he wouldn’t get bored.

As they reached their destination, Magnus wrapped his arms around his neck. “You never cease to amaze me, my love” he whispered and smiled. 

“What? The whole private investigator thing?” He asks with a small laugh as he wrapped his arms around magnus’ waist. Alec gave Magnus a kiss for a few seconds before pulling back. “So why don’t you tell me where we are? I am sure I will most definitely pay attention to you telling me where we are and not be distracted because I am busy looking at how handsome you are.” 

“No, I think I understand. But that’s just your face, and you shouldn’t have to look welcoming or nice all the time.” She shrugged. She’d gotten that a lot at home. Not directly, so much, since Laurie had always been the good girl, pleasant to adults and good with kids if a little awkward with people her own age. But it was impressed on girls in general in 1970s middle America to be pleasant. “You didn’t look unfriendly to me,” she added with a smile. It hadn’t stopped her from approaching him, anyway.

Stiles smiled at her words. “Well I am glad that I didn’t scare you off at least. It’s nice that someone finds me not scary around here.” He jokes lightly. “So then what brings you here again?” The male asks while looking up at her. 

“I truly do believe in that though. People will never grow as individuals if they cannot see the errors of the past” Mickey said. He sure did know a thing or two about learning things about himself due to errors he had done. “The mind is one of the most dangerous weapons. Because you never truly know what another person will do. They always have it wrapped up in secrecy”

“I think everyone is capable of doing the worst to humankind. The only difference is that some know how to hide it and other’s don’t. That is where a problem in our society exists when we try to figure it out. Some people you can only push so far before they end up breaking like a twig.” He smirked. 

Playfully rolling his eyes when he heard Alec’s words, he then chuckled softly. “You have always been a smooth talker” he sighed. “Especially when it comes to me” Magnus quickly added and then wiggled his eyebrows. When he heard Alexander’s next words, his eyes widened. “Really?”

“I know it’s one of the things you love about me. I feel absolutely honored.” He smiles as the other wiggled their eyebrows before turning his attention to looking around where Magnus was taking him. It was easy for Alec to keep pace with Magnus and he remembered when they would sometimes just go for a nice walk together whenever they were off work and able to sneak away. 

“Mhm, you seem surprised? I mean it isn’t like working as a team or anything like that but I can still get information just as easily other ways. I did train with the best you know.” He smirked, wondering if Magnus would get his reference to when they both trained together. 

“I do use magic every now and then on really nasty wounds. I will always be a warlock so why not use my knowledge of the arts for good? But I also want to blend my magic with the old fashioned way of being a doctor” Magnus said and nodded as he looked at Alexander and smiled. “It also makes things more fun” the other wiggled his eyebrows. “What do you work with here in Sallow?”

Alexander listened attentively to Magnus as he spoke to him. “I think in certain ways it could be more fun so long as the patient is not complaining at you. But I am sure just one look from you would be able to cure anything.” He blushed at his own words as a smirk teased the corners of his lips. “I actually got hired as a private investigator.”  

harry gave him a small smile before sitting down and placing their sketch book onto the table with their pencil pouch. “pleasure to meet you, stiles. I’m harry – harry potter.” they got comfortable in the seat “i didn’t interrupt anything important, did i?”

“Nice to meet you Harry Potter, your name sounds familiar...” He mumbled the last part before hearing the other’s words shaking him out of his thoughts. “What? Oh no, I am just reading some books. Doing some research for the vet clinic.” He reassures the other.

Lucifer had been making sure that everything was in order at the bar. Everything was stocked up exactly where he wanted it as he waited for people to start coming in. Given he knew it was a small town but that didn’t stop him from wanting to have some fun as someone came over and sat down. “What can I get for you?” 

He couldn’t help but enjoy a drink every now and then, and now was one of those times. His maker was back in town and he knew there was going to be a hell of a lot of trouble in store for him now. “The strongest thing you have,” he replied, running a hand through his hair, “cliché response, isn’t it?”

“Just a little bit yes. It seems like I should just start making that a regular drink on the menu at this point. But of course, I will make you one on the house seems like you are stressed so it is the least that I could do.”
