She's Heartless

I woke up to my cell phone ringing off the hook like crazy. I popped up and retrieved my phone to see who the hellit was. I sighed when I saw Breezy’s name popped up and got up to answer before he woke up Aleesha.

Aleesha and I have been much better after the fight we had. I can’t believe I was dumb enough to snap like that. Now I can’t imagine her not having my seed. It’s crazy seeing her grow every day. Hopefully soon we’ll find out that I gotta little jun’ coming. Leesh swears it’s a girl but I know it’s my little man in there.

“Yo bruh?”

“You up?” He asked me and by the time I could answer, I was in the bathroom.

“Yeah nigga, I am now. What you want at seven in the morning bro?”

“I was serious what I said about that nigga. We need tools”, he said without saying too much.

I sighed before answering him. “Aight, Ima call Tony.”

“Aight, do that now Mijo. Call me and let me know prices.”

“Word.”

I picked up my phone and dialed Tony’s number. Tony was someone we grew up that always had the gun connect and being that he fucked with us, Breezy and I know we can get them for good prices.

“Yo Barry, my nigga you better have some good shit to tell me this early man.” He said into the phone before yawning.

“My government though nigga?” I chuckled. “We need some toolies, my nigga.”

“I don’t do that no more.”

“What? Damn since when?”

“Since I had my daughter man, life has changed.”

“I feel you man, Leesh pregnant now”, I said to him finding myself smiling.

“You gonna love it bro. I’m telling you the shit makes you want to change your life immediately.” I sat there and took in what he said and I already knew he was being honest.  I feel that same way, which is why I reacted like I did when I found out.

“I feel you. So you don’t know nobody with them?”

“Oh yeah I do, some nigga from New Orleans. Ima text you his jack after I tell him what’s up.”

“Good looking baby. Take care of that baby bro! Hit me if you need anything.”

“You do the same, I want a baby shower invite”, he said laughing.

“Of course, one.”

“You honor, I would like to call Mr. Shane Alsina to the stand.” I said to my teacher as Shane and I finally performed our project in front of the classes. The teacher agreed and they waited for him to reach the stand. He took his oath and then took his seat. The classes took a field trip to the Richmond courthouse so they could really have the full experienced.

Bria’s mock case was about a woman who was accusing her ex-boyfriend of raping her. Bria’s client was Shane and she had to prove to the judge and the jury that he was innocent.

“Mr. Alsina, can you briefly tell me what happen on the night in question?”

“Sure. Ashley and I attended a party that night. We were on a break but still trying to work on our relationship, you know?”

“Sure, continue.”

“I noticed a little attitude coming from her after I spent a little time chatting with a girl she didn’t like very much. But we were scheduled to do a project for school together.” Shane said winking his eye my way. I quickly rolled mines and proceeded him to continue.

“She seemed cool after I told her that and then the night continued. We dance, drank, and had fun. I asked her to come back to my place and she agreed. Ashely and I had just had sex a couple days before so I didn’t think tonight would be any different. Usually when she says she doesn’t want to have sex, we don’t. I value her feelings, I mean we’ve been involved ever since our freshman year and we’re seniors now.  I would be a fool not to care about her as much as I do. We lied in bed and play fought for a little bit then we began kissing. I began my advances and she said no a couple of times but she was laughing and still kissing me. So I automatically thought she was just playing coy but she really wanted it and then we had sex. There was no aggression of any sorts, it turned into sex that we always had.”

“You guys did a very good job! This will be a case I can show my students to come”, Mrs. Wright raved to us. I smiled at her and looked over at Shane. Even though he got on my damn nerves the entire time, we did make a good team. His side of the project was loved by our teachers also.  I was surprised it went this well.

Chris and I have been a little better but it’s only been a day so far. He did check up on me and let me know he was good though. Little things like that is all I ask for. I decided since I knew Chris was like me, I would have to find his dad myself. . I got in my car after my class was over and quickly dialed Mama J’s number. I heard her serene voice after the second ring.

“Hey Bria baby.”

“Hey Mama. How are you?”

“I’m good baby, what’s up?” She said with happiness laced into her voice.

I chuckled a little bit before speaking. “Remember we were talking about Chris and his father?”

“Of course, he’s finally agreed?” 

“Yes, but you know how your block head son is. He’s not going to make the first effort so I have to.”

“It’s funny to hear you say that because he was saying the same about you a couple months back”, she chuckled herself.

“We’re too much alike sometimes Mama. Sometimes it can be a good thing and others not so much”, I said shortly sighing after.

“Oh believe me, I know. But honestly Bree, I haven’t spoken to Clint in years and I don’t have any desire to.” I sighed and she started speaking again. “But I do keep in touch with his sister, I’ll give her a call for you.”

“Thanks Ma, just tell her I would like to meet with him. Can you please ask her not to tell him it’s about Chris or that I’m his girlfriend?”

“Of course sweetheart, Mama will call you back.”

“Thank you”, I told her and we said our goodbyes before hanging up.

“Bro, where you at right now?” I heard Mijo say through the phone.

“My mom’s. Did you get any information?”

“Yeah, I’m about to slide that way now.” He said and I agreed and we ended our conversation. I had to come check on Mama and make sure she was good.

“You and Bria are too much alike, I just got off the phone with her”, my mom said to me as she rummaged through the refrigerator insisting on fixing me something to eat. That’s my mama for you. I chuckled as she prepared a juicy turkey burger for me, just the way I liked it.

“Oh for real?” I asked before picking up my phone to call her. She answered on the third ring and spoke immediately.

“Hey baby.”

“Wassup baby momma”, I said causing her to chuckle and my mom to roll her eyes, smiling.

“I’m chillin’ baby daddy. What you doing?”

“I’m home now, wishing you were here”, she replied seductively.

“I gotta few things to take care of, then I’m all yours, okay baby?”

“You sure?” She asked with uncertainty in her voice.

“I’m positive, we can go on a date or something. Whatever you want to do”, I told her knowing I had a lot of making up to do.

“Ok Daddy, I see you”, she said sarcastically causing us both to laugh. “Just come home to me when you’re done baby.”

“Aight, I love you B.”

“I love you more baby”, she said and we ended our phone call.

“Glad to see you got some sense”, Mama said as soon as I hung up with Bria.

“I know Ma”, I replied just as the door bell rung. I knew it was Mijo at the door, so I quickly went to open it for him. I greeted him with a half hug and he went to say hello to my mother shortly after. After she fixed him a plate, she left us and we started discussing our issue at hand.

“So what he say?” I asked him anxious about getting these guns. I hated that Red took this shit here. We used to be best friends but some people can’t handle having money and a little hood fame. I shook my head waiting for Mijo to respond.

“Tony said he doesn’t do it anymore. He and Diana had a little girl so he said it changed him.”

“Damn.”

“But he gave me a different connect and you’re not gonna be happy about who it is either”, he said chuckling.

“You talked to him? Let’s go meet him now”, I said ignoring his comment. At this point, it didn’t matter who it was. I just needed to do what I had to do to get my empire back on track. I got up and went to say my goodbyes to my mom and rushed Mijo out the door.

I shook my head as Breezy rushed me out of the house. I had some shit to say but the nigga didn’t want to listen so Ima just sit back and watch this scene play out in front of me. We hopped into my car and I drove to the secret location that I was given.

“You ready?” I asked him as I shut my car engine off.

“Yeah nigga, why wouldn’t I be?”

“I’m just asking nigga. I’m trying to make sure you want to go through with this, bro.”

“Mijo, if we don’t then what happens? We continue to let Red destroy what we’ve built? You gotta baby on the way, I got Mama, Bree, Keeis, Aunt Christine, and my list goes on. Not to mention Ace and everybody else who works for us. Plus, you know how Red is, that nigga doesn’t listen to anybody. Once he feels a certain way, you can’t change his mind and honestly I’m not trying to. I don’t need a nigga like him in my circle”, Chris said to me making me shake my head. He was right.

“Aight”, well let’s get in here. Don’t be mad at me either ‘cause I tried to warn you”, I said chucking as I got out of the car.

“Warn me about what?” Chris asked as we walked up to the hidden door on the side of the warehouse.

“Nothing, come on”, I said rushing him as he did me. I knocked on the door and was asked to speak who I was.

“It’s B”, I said waiting for the response. The locked popped and a nigga I knew from school answered the door.

“What up Mijo, come on in. Oh shit, what up Breeze?” He said shaking both our hands.

“I didn’t know you had those thangs”, Chris said to him after their half hug.

“I don’t, come on so you can talk to the man that does”, Greg replied. I let Breezy walk in front of me and I couldn’t help but smile at what was about to happen. We were led into another room were the guns were held. There were a nice variety of them lying on the table in front of us, so we started looking at them.

“Well well well, if it isn’t Mr. Brown”, I heard that familiar country accent slur out. Chris and I immediately turned his head looking the way that the voice came from and I couldn’t help by laugh. Chris looked at me shortly after and gave me a look that could kill.

“I tried to warn you”, I mumbled before smiling.

“Anybody but this nigga”, Chris replied quietly to me.

‘’Damn can’t shake a niggas hand?” August asked Chris as he made his way to us.

“Look this is strictly business, if I would’ve known I was coming here, I wouldn’t have.”

“But you need me, right Breezy? I mean come on, why do we have beef? Over some pussy? She’s yours right? You won, bro.” August said sarcastically.

“Listen I don’t need shit from you, I want something from you. Just like you want something I got but can’t have.” Chris fired back, this time laughing himself. August himself chuckled before taking a seat across from them. “Besides nigga, you act like I don’t know you and ya bitch ass cousin didn’t have something to do with me getting shot.”

“Fuck are you talkin’ about nigga?” August asked with a scrunched up face.

“Did I stutter? You lucky I’m not really worried about ya’ll niggas ‘cause I would’ve been looking for heat for ya’ll asses”, Chris replied through gritted teeth.

“Who told you that nigga? Shane not even like that and fuck Ima shoot you for? Over pussy that ain’t mine? Nah, you got me mistaken for some sucka ass nigga.” 

“Nigga you aint gotta lie, only sucka ass niggas lie on their gun”, Chris taunted this nigga. August was really denying having any involvement.

“Listen, you be testing a nigga a lot. If I would’ve shot ya ass, I would’ve shot to kill. And I would’ve wanted you to see my face before I put ya fuckin’ lights out. So believe whatever the fuck you want to. You buying or what?”

“Damn”, I said under my breath as I went to pay for my items at Wawa. A bad ass brown skin female was standing in front of me waiting to pay for her things also. I walked up behind her and told the cashier I would be paying for her things and mine.

“You don’t gotta do that, I’m good”, she said to me turning around.

“Nah, I want to. A beautiful woman like yourself should never have to go in her pocket when a real niggas around.” I said huskily in her ear. She moved a little and turned to look at me again.

“Trust me, I never have to. My nigga takes good care of me but thank you.” She said before taking her bag and walking out. I smiled waiting for the girl to give me the total, paid her and ran off to find shorty again. By the time I reached outside, she was in her car pulling off smiling at me.

“Damn, you seen her?” I asked my man Hood.

“Yeah, you know who she is?” He asked, looking at me like I was crazy.

“Nah, but I want her.”

“Off limits bro, that’s Breezy’s bitch.”

“Damn, do this nigga have everything in my fuckin’ city?”

“Pretty much. So please don’t go there. That nigga goes hard over her.”

“Fuck that nigga! Wouldn’t that be fucked up if I take this nigga business and his bitch? I love that idea”, I said smiling starting my ride up.
