So ETJ (Emperor Tran-Je) are BUGS! They BUGGY! BUGGEE!! And they're segmented too! Their skin and fat protect them from freezing in their planet's naturally cold climate. Are they cold blooded? noooot really? If they didn't have their skin and fat layers they would freeze completely like any other normal cold blooded creature, but their outer layers are so insulating that they're able to retain what little body heat they produce like a warm blooded creature.

Here we have a Luster kneeling down to eat a meal on the floor. She has a placemat and a sharp hook utensil to help break open the crustacean claw on her white polished stone food block, along with some cuts of meat and a cup of juice on a coaster. This is of course not a big enough amount of food to count as a true meal, but this Luster is just having a little midday snack.

Next we have a Shimmer preening xier Shine's neck hairs. While these hairs are dense like fur, they're actually closer to the hairs of a tarantula and whiskers of a cat- They help with feeling and 'hearing' due to an Emperor Tran-Je's overall poor hearing- So the act of preening these hairs of very intimate. We can see the Shimmer is using xier pedipalps to comb through xier Shine's hairs. The Shine has their eyes partially closed (they only have a lower eyelid) and has their antennae on their beak pointed backwards in a gesture that basically translates to "I am enjoying this, you may continue." The Shimmer has xier wings open to both expel body heat and to provide a bit of modesty to xier Shine as xey preen them.

Meet the "Emperor Tran-Je" !

These tall buglike creatures are covered in a layer of fatty skin and hairs they resemble fur since they're native to the northern hemisphere of the 4th planet to their Sun. This also makes them very heat-intolerant and they often switch their sleep cycles with the seasons (Winter: Diurnal, Summer: Nocturnal).

They have 3 Sexes: (All referred to with They, Xe, or She) Shines- Produces unfertilized eggs in a pouch by their cloaca Shimmers- Produces Semen to fertilize eggs Lusters- Has an empty pouch to store larval young Shines can be compared to Ant Queens in their social structure as they are usually the dominant member of their "Colony" Shines are very rare and only 4% of larvae will become a Shine after metamorphosis- Although this can also be influenced by time spent around the Colony's Shine during their hormonal periods. An elderly Shine will usually take over caring for their last clutch in hopes of producing 2-3 Shines that can either take over the old Colony (chasing away any remaining Shimmers to find new ones) or leave and start their own Colonies. A Shine may have a "Favored Luster" that they keep around (because Yuri) because a well cared for Luster who's only job is caring for her Shine's young means a higher chance their Larvae will survive to pupation.

Shimmers are the Drones and usually only a few are kept in the colony to both protect the Shine and fertilize their eggs. About 16% of all Emperor Tran-Je become Shimmers. Xey are usually killed off by the Shine of the Colony and eaten once Xey grow weaker/elderly. This is considered an Honor by most Shimmers and being chased away after outliving xeir Shine is a disgrace, so they usually end up becoming lazier in hopes xeir Shine will cannibalize them.

Lusters are the Workers and are the most common sex with 80% of all Emperor Tran-Je metamorphosizing into Lusters. She cares for the Shine's larvae and usually hold jobs or do household tasks/ labor for the Colony. Same sex relationships between Lusters (of no blood relation ofc) is widely accepted, but relationships between Lusters and Shimmers is Illegal in Emperor Tran-Je society. (No they couldn't produce Larvae if they tried, they are just bigoted)

Social groups (Colonies) usually contain 1 Shine, 3-7 Shimmers, and any number of Lusters

Sometimes Shines will marry each other for political/financial reasons and combine their Colonies, which pools their resources and can help smaller/newer colonies survive.

Emperor Tran-Je government is very fractured into different Regions, where the biggest Colonies (and therefor those colonies' Shines) gather together to form large cities where they have the highest amount of political power. Politics is influenced by the Shines in the inner political circle and their respective Shimmers (And singular favored Luster sometimes) to provide the 'voices of the people' for the Shines to then bring up during discussions, lawmaking, etc. Enforcement is also usually the job of the Shimmers and Shines.

Rural Colonies are usually nomadic within their region and are much smaller and resemble extended families rather than massive political oligarchs. These smaller colonies focus more on temporary collaboration, trade, marriages, and self preservation than the opulence and societal progression of large cities.

Emperor Tran-Je finally reached Space when the three biggest cities joined to form one large mega-colony and they decided to colonize one of their moons (of which they have 3 small ones that orbit two larger ones and switch which larger moon it orbits every time they pass over each other) when they found out that Paragliders had already been there and set up a research station to monitor the Emperor Tran-Je in hopes of setting up an intergalactic trade route. This did not work because Emperor Tran-Je immediately saw this as a threat and chased the Paragliders back into their underground research station when they attempted contact. It took another few years for Paragliders to learn the Emperor Tran-Je language and apologize for "colonizing their moon first."

Did I mention Emperor Tran-Je are extremely self absorbed?

Well they are. Thats why they named themselves "Emperor" Tran-Je instead of just "Tran-Je," because they think they're the best and most intelligent species in their galaxy (they are the only Sophont in their galaxy). (Paragliders used a Wormhole to get to the Emperor Tran-Je Galaxy)

AFTER that accident and the Paragliders kissed enough ass the Emperor Tran-Je decided to be "Merciful" and allow for Intergalactic Trade.

Now they have Bracyopods (the even MORE self-absorbed Sophont) to deal with! Emperor Tran-Je think they "allow" Bracyopods to be that way, but in reality they just want the other Sophonts to see their species as "Merciful" and "Respectable" (They immediately failed when Humanity learned of their culture's thing about cannibalism).

Behold- Strange semi-aquatic fiberous-coated aliens named The Cresparo!

They live mostly in large freshwater bodies of water (which is most of their planet- Fun Fact: they are neighbors to Paragliders! They live in the same solar system!) Cresparo walk and run underwater like Hippos and have a porcupine body-structure with some extra muscle and flexibility.

Also I know it's a crime to not be pet-able but they are not soft <:(

They are covered in strong Fibers to protect their squishy central body. However if you shampoo and conditioner their fibers they'll get softer at the cost of protection.

They eat underwater plants, mollusks, crustaceans, fish, nuts, and fruits from their planet- Also 0 sexual dimorphism, they all look the same. But they do change color based on what they eat! Like if you give one a ton of fresh shrimp they'll turn Pink like a flamingo, or a ton of Carrots and they'll turn Orange. That being said the paler/grayer they look- the shittier their diet is. Their common colors are Pink, Purple, Green, Brown, Blue, Black, and Orange. Although on other planets they usually look Pink or Orange because it's easier to have small crustacean farms on a space-ship with you than to constantly import/buy food.
