( emilio sakraya, 28, cis-man, he/him ) ā Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, youāll find that TAMIEL AL FULANI is a TEACHER (Latin & English Lit) that works in SECTOR 5. According to the file, theyāre a mutant with the power of POWER NULLIFICATION. That must be why theyāre RESILIENT and MOROSE. If you ask me, they remind me of a long, lonely night in the desert; the sharp sting of blisters, bursting; thick heavy paper with careful braille idents; blood between teeth, blood lingering in the back of your throat. They are affiliated with THE MUTANTS SOCIETY ( cola, 29, gmt, she/her )

biography (optional): tw: religion, sexual assault, violence, death in childbirth/death, suicidal ideation i guess? Found as a newborn, screaming between his mothers legs, still attached, and his father lay inexplicably dead, too. Those who approached the baby felt fine, except for mutants who found their abilities waning then entirely disappearing. He was taken back to the group and raised in Mercy's cult. He was loved and cared for, but his mutation proved troublesome. At least on a philosophical and spiritual level. Attempts were made to 'heal' his eyes but anyone who approached him would lose their abilities. As he got older, Tammy's nullification ability made him question Mercy's divine powers. If he could simply switch them offāwere they really from God Himself? Why was he able to question, to challenge His will? He decided to leave of his own free will. He couldn't face the questioning, his own wavering faith, and he couldn't face the fact whenever he approached Mercy her powers would wane and disappear altogether. When he left, he went in the dead of night fully expecting to never leave the wasteland. Yet God wouldn't even give him the kindness of dying from exposure. He stumbled into a group of people who offered him help. They were not good people: things ended violently. (TW: SA / Violence ) He was vulnerable with his blindness, his only saving grace being his nullification ability that stopped mutants from killing him the moment they went to attack. Being nothing but a drain on resources and their abilities, they had little reason to keep him. Things escalated when a member of the team assaulted Tammy. He'd never felt so powerless, the same way he made other mutants feel. He'd also never lashed out the way he did then: the man died, a slow death and Tammy stumbled out into the wastelands with a mouth full of blood and teeth that had cut through flesh ( TW end ) Wandering the wasteland he was found by another group: this time one from Sol City. Haggard, sun burnt, and with blood caked around his face he was mute at first. It didn't take long for him to ease into things. Still haunted but better at hiding his struggles, he found himself in an unexpected teaching role. The cult had focused heavily on learning, and he'd taken well to general literature and had a particular fondness for Latin. Generally a quiet, morose presence in the city and in the college hallways he's found something not quite like peace. He grapples every day with his faith, his mutation, but despite that found himself needing another group. That's why he joined The Mutant's Society, as someone who's ability counteracts mutants powers it may seem an odd fit, but they welcome all and so does Tammy. At least, he tries too.
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement? He had left the cult fully prepared to die. He left the wastes thinking he'd experienced something crueller than death. Sol City is where he is. He won't leave again, but he never planned to be here. It's fine.
do they trust the councilās leadership? why or why not? After his experiences with the cult, he's a bit skeptical of all leadership. Yes, Mercy was kind and benevolent but he always questions where people get their power from, now. Tammy's opinion constantly evolves, he's not naive enough to believe they have nothing but good intentions but he wishes so badly someone would.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didnāt, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not? Work is about the only thing that makes him happy in life. He was always good with reading and analysis, and has a fondness for latin. There's certain difficulties with teaching, especially with students who'd rather not be there, but he enjoys the work. It keeps him more than occupied.
whatās one object that they always keep on their person? His white cane.
(mutant only section)
what is your characterās ability (or abilities)? what can your character do? what are their strengths? what canāt they do? what are their weaknesses? Mutant/Power Nullification: It works like an area of effect and like Gamma radiation. Anyone with 10 feet of him who is a mutant loses their abilities. Their cells de-volve. No-one is immune but there are variations in reactions. Physical mutations can take a little bit of time in his presence to fully disappear, less tangible abilities are nearly instantly wiped out. Much like radiation, if someone where fully shielded behind a thick wall (or metal apron that covered EVERYTHING) they would not be affected by his ability. The mutants power will return after leaving his presence, he cannot permanently take away a mutation however if someone dies whilst nullified, their corpse will be and remain human. His ability only works on living cells.
are they gen i or gen ii? Gen 2
is there anything else youād like to specify about them? Tamiel is blind and was born blind. There's no obvious sign he is blind besides a lack of eye contact/they move with little regard to light. He has no interest in it being 'cured' despite others having tried in the past. He reads and write with Braille and speech-to-text devices. Tammy navigates the city mostly with a white cane to indicate to others of his visual impairment. He doesn't often wear sunglasses, but does on particularly sunny days. Whilst completely blind in the sense he cannot see details or colours, he has some light perception that only really tells him if a light is on or if the sun is up.
