I know that this thing was posted almost a month ago by @vallis-cineris---wanderer, but I’ve been rotating it in my mind for a while, and I finally came up with birds for all the triplets (plus some of my faves) with @that-ghosts-art
The American robin is common in Portland, and a pretty typical bird. They’re usually considered a plain bird, and Hank is often thought of as “the normal triplet”. Plus they have red feathers.
Willow- Eurasian jay (or Black kite)
A corvid to match Dipper, (possibly influenced by his magic) the Eurasian jay would look pretty plain, if not for the patches of bright blue feathers on its wings. The blue feathers resemble her fire. The Black kite, also known as the Fire hawk, is famous for starting fires to hunt prey
Acacia takes after her mother’s love for color and chaos, which I think should be visible in her wings. AND they live near acacia trees and have red coloring. (Not to mention the word star in their name could go with Pole Star)
Lucy Ann- Loggerhead shrike
The Loggerhead shrike appears to be an adorable songbird, but has the nickname “butcherbird” for a good reason. They’re known to use all sorts of tools to hunt small animals and fellow birds, even man made ones like barbed wire. Lucy Ann has used the guise of a helpless child time and time again to stay undetected for her eating habits.
The Woman- Eurasian collared dove
The dove symbolizes purity and holyness, both things that harm demons. Collared doves have been known to harass magpies, and The Woman certainly fits the description.
Powerful owls are natural predators to magpies, and Jan believes from the start that he has the upper hand over Alcor. Jan and Alcor’s relationship parallels Bill and Ford’s, so I think the owl would be a good way to show it.
Alcor-Virus / Al-V / Alvie- Kea (or pigeon)
I imagine that Al-V was modeled after Alcor’s bat wings, but he would have to pick a species for his disguise in the Rosewood Affair, so I suggest a Kea. The kea is a parrot species known for being extremely intelligent (and mischievous). Parrots are some of the only birds that have been taught how to use a computer device, and it would also remind Dipper of Mabel. He could also be a pigeon, but I’m just saying that bc of the “birds are cameras “ theory.
These are just ideas! There is so final decision on the species for the Wings AU, so do whatever feel right! I just like exploring the possibilities.
