Biochemist (how do proteins and DNA work? RNA? What do they look like? Photosynthesis? Gluconeogensis? Oxidative Phosphorylation? Digestion? etc. etc.)
Biophysicist (how do cells work? Protein dynamics? Enzyme kinetics? Trying to explain how cells and organisms work with knowledge of physics. Overlapping with biochemistry a lot)
Biomechanics (how do living things move? study of the structure and function of mechanical aspects of organisms)
cell biologist (how do cells work, what do they look like, etc.)
Ecology and evolution, including molecular evolution (why do organisms look the way they do? Why do they act the way they do? How are they related? How did they evolve? Construction of phylogenies with DNA or protein sequences, morphology data, fossil record, DNA-DNA hybridization, etc.)
developmental evolution (from embryo to adult being, including the molecular processes that cause these changes)
botanist (what do plants look like, what “organs” do they have, how do they work? and what kind of plants are there? how do they live?)
zoologist (what animals are there? how do they look? how do they live?)
neurobiologist (everything that has to do with the nervous system)
bioacoustics (how do organisms communicate with sound, and how do they detect it?)
marine biologist (studies marine life and its ecosystems)
ornithiologist (studies birbs)
Metaphysics / ontology / natural philosophy (how does the world work? How do we perceive it? What is existence? Are there gods? processes and causation, properties of objects and properties of properties, relationship between mind and body, possible worlds)
logics (study of reasoning and arguments)
epistemology (study of knowledge - how do we know things?)
