           𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. among them were: the detached and rotting head of a girl you once called a friend, an abandoned set of mines that once endured a cave in which caused cannibalism, and a creature that couldn’t be described as anything close to human. but none of those things compared to the site in front of you. the silhouette of a girl you know well, a girl you’re in the midst of hating, who gets worse and worse the closer you get. the more details you can make out the more horrified you are. barely dressed, covered in dirt and blood that’s clearly her own. scratches and gashes that are clearly deep, clearly painful. she can barely walk on her own, limping, terrified. and despite the animosity between you there’s something in you that softens when you see the state she’s in. ❝jessica?❞ your voice is quiet but it echos through the caves. you know making a lot of noise isn’t a great idea, but you’re hoping for this one little thing to go right. ❝you look like shit.❞ the words lack malice, instead an attempt at lightening the mood. sarcasm clear in your tone, though it doesn’t seem to help the situation at all. ❝what the hell happened?❞

             𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙪𝙥 𝙖 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚, 𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠. the fire that fueled the animosity between you is dimmed by.. by- well, by everything that’s happened in the last five hours. the insanity of it all hasn’t hit you yet, not fully. you limp forwards, propelled by a need to not stop or else it will all come crashing down on you. ❝ em- ❞ shit, that hurts. doesn’t even sound like you. the warble, the croak, the tremor. ❝ it c-came and it took- snatched me- and then mike was running after and I was in the elevator and the mines were- I saw... ❞ nothing you say seems to connect, though you can feel the strings that dragged you from one scene to the next. ❝ is it bad? ❞ the look on emily’s face scares you. she is supposed to hate you for dating mike. she is not supposed to worry. how- how did this happen. ❝ am I going to need plastic surgery? ❞

       who needs grades when you’ve got all the natural advantages you can handle?
