i cant stop laughing cause espeon and umbreon are all majestic and psychicing shit up but fuckin vaporeon comes along and its like BLARGARGLAGRGAARLRARLURAH
This is the best description Iâve heard for this method, I always thought it was bullshit because I never heard a description that actually explained how to do this other than âtap your head 20 timesâ.
I have anxiety-induced hissing, which sounds/feels different from sound-induced tinnitus (which I have also experience). Sound-based tinnitus actually sounds like youâre âhearingâ something in your ears, whilst the hissing I have feels like itâs âinside my headâ, if that makes sense. But this technique still helps!!
Hereâs a visual I found because I couldnât understand the instructions well
My ringing just went away for the first time in years. What is this blissful quiet.
wait wait i gotta try this, i donât think iâve had Actual Silence since i was like 5
HOW THE FUCK
Reblogging to save a life, and also because, even if you donât have tinnitus, this is totally worth trying if you like new sensory experiences. Â
My favorite scenes in the LotR books are the ones where Legolas has vital information and just decides it's not important to share.
Like when Gandalf spent literal PAGES trying to figure out why the vibes were off in Moria and Legolas chimes in with just "it's a balrog :) that shit's evil :) we're so fucked :)" like what do you MEAN you knew already and just didn't tell him??
Or at the beginning of Two Towers when Aragorn thinks there's something nearby so he puts his ear to the ground to listen, and then like 10 minutes later is like "hmmm i hear horses" and Legolas is just like "mm yep. there are 105 blond bitches with spears" like you just let your friend put his face in the dirt and you can SEE them??
Legolas please gain a sense of urgency
It's because legolas hasn't spent enough time with non-elves to remember that they don't know what he knows.
gandalf is scratching his head in moria, and legolas is thinking "oh man, the wizard noticed something off *besides* the obvious balrog that we all are aware of??"
"I wonder what aragorn is listening for? must be hard to hear, what with all of the horses. How many horses are there, actually? 1... 2... 3..."
"What do your elvish eyes see?" is Aragorn saying, as politely as possible, "Because the REST OF US are at a significant disadvantage, Prince Dipshit."
i keep seeing the gif set so hereâs the video clip

TIL Ray Bradbury first titled Fahrenheit 451 âThe Firemanâ, then called a local fire station to ask what temperature it would take to actually ignite books. The responding firemen placed him on hold and burnt a book, then reported that the heat required was âFahrenheit 451âł.
via reddit.com
Thatâs such a fire fighter thing to do.
âYou know what? Thatâs a good question. Iâm gonna put you on hold while I find outâ
My dad used to design kitchens at Loweâs and one day he got a dude from one of the national labs looking to buy a countertop. Dad sent him home with a sample of a quartz-composite countertop to make sure the color will look good with his existing cabinets. The dude asks my dad what the composition of the countertop is and whether itâll melt if he puts a pot on it (since itâs a composite and not pure stone) and Dad gives him some rough numbers and reassures him that it wonât melt if he puts a hot pan on the counter. The dude comes back with week later without the sample. The dude gives dad a detailed list of the countertops composition, to the nearest hundredth of a percentile, and the exact temperature it melts at, because he took it to his lab and melted it down. tldr, itâs not just firefighters.
Imagine giving someone a sample of the granite you use to make countertops and they come back a few days later just to tell you they fucking dematerialized it
Ok, but this is just, like, what people do if they have access to equipment. We just⌠put shit in it. Just to see. At this point, Iâll try and hit just about anything with an arc, just to see. Iâll sand and polish anything youâll let me, if Iâm bored enough. If I had a machine that could melt something down and tell me exactly what was in it? Iâd be just waiting for parts of my world to become âtrashâ so I could de-materialize it and turn it into knowledge of what it was.
i was thinking about the weirdest phone calls i got when i still worked at the public library and i remembered this one phone call. it was probably less than 20 seconds long, but it still makes me laugh.
anyways, this woman called and without even saying hello after i said the usual âpublic library, how can i help you?â spiel, she said, âi have a very important question: when you shelve books, do you push them all to the front of the shelf or all the way back?â
it took me a second to process the question and then i answered that, at the library, we always shelve them so that they are even with the front edge so theyâre easier to grab and see. she was obviously delighted by this answer and then, as if an afterthought, she asked, âokay, what about you? what do you do at home with your books?â i said i did the same thing. she hummed in obvious agreement and then just like that she said âthank you!â and hung up.
i never heard from her again. i hope she won whatever argument she was having.
for about a year, i worked at a call center for sprint. i have a similar kind of story. a woman called, and said she had a question about the call history on her bill. âsure, let me just pull up your account-â and she cut me off going, âno, no, itâs not anything specific, itâs just. so, if you change the time on your phone, does that change the time on the bill?â âuh⌠no? the time on the phone doesnât matter, the call history is recorded by the towers.â âohhhhâ she said in the saltiest voice i have ever heard âso even if you changed the timezone it wouldnât change the time on the bill? to, say, the middle of the night?â i stg yall i looked into the camera like i was on the office. âum⌠no? it would still be the local time of the tower. is there anything else i can help you with?â to me, overly chipper: ânope! thank you! have a great day!â turning on someone as she hung up: âshe says yoUâRE A LYING SACK OF-â i still mean-snicker every time i think about it.
i used to work in a call center for a roadside assistance company, from late 2015 to early 2016. it was easily the most miserable job iâve ever had, and the turnover rate was very high. people stuck on the side of the road tend to be quick to anger - understandably so - and it wears on you after awhile.
so i had been having a string of very time-consuming, draining calls. my line rings again, i steel myself for another angry caller, and i pick up. â[redacted] roadside assistance, how can i help you?â i chirp, in my Customer Service Voice.
âyeah, hi,â a gentleman with a thick southern accent responds. âmy motorcycle wonât start.â
i brace immediately for another long call. motorcycles were notoriously difficult to work with - a lot of insurance companies wouldnât insure them, and a lot of tow companies refused to pick them up because they require a specific sort of trailer.
âiâm sorry to hear that, sir. whatâs your current location?â
âoh, iâm just at my house. i was wondering if it would be okay for me to just load it into my trailer and take it to my buddyâs shop. would that interfere with my insurance?â
i click through his account and am Relieved to discover heâs in the clear. âNo sir, it looks like youâre good to go. Can I help you with anything else?â
A pause. âHave you heard the good news?â
My Anxiety, which had been receding, suddenly spikes into the fucking stratosphere. I live in the rural south. The âgood newsâ usually means âJesusâ and i was in no mood to be proselytized to for god knows how long.
i steel myself for the Religious Talk. âWhat news, sir?â
âMcDonaldâs is now serving breakfast all day!â
I laughed so hard I almost cried. I hope that guy ate as many hashbrowns as he could.
Once in my old private school with only like 20 kids maximum, we started having a debate about this:
Iâm not kidding.
One kid had a bag of goldfish crackers, and everyone somehow started to yell at each other about if the main fish is yellow or orange.
I became one of the spearheads for yellow, and my argument was that yellow was the base color and the orange is being used as shading, so itâs not actually orange. But the kid who was the spearhead for orange (letâs call him David) WOULD NOT listen to me. (he was always an asshole though, so itâs not too surprising)
This got so heated that the one guy who was in my grade (letâs call him Paul (half the kids had bible names anyway)) was looking at the back of the bag and found a phone number. I think itâs supposed to be there if thereâs a problem with the food or something, but he thought heâd try to call to see what theyâd say about our dilemma.
I donât know exactly what the person told him at first, but Paul explained the situation to them and then they put him on hold for a couple minutes while we waited in suspense. I have no clue what they did to fact check this for us, but they pulled through, AND IT WAS YELLOW!!!!!!!!!!! EAT SHIT DAVID!!!!!! >:DDDD
We broke into a cacophony of either joyful cheers or enraged disappointment. Iâm not sure if the person who answered our burning question could hear us, but I hope they did and got some joy out of it.
I would have been on the side of goldfish being, ya know, GOLD.
Hey. Why isnât the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isnât that fucked up? Does anyone else think thatâs absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! Thatâs a big deal! Iâve never thought about it before but now that I have, itâs ridiculous to me that thatâs not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why donât we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
Itâs July 20th. Thatâs the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. Iâm ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and Iâm going to have a goddamn potluck. Youâre all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!
MOON DAY MONDAY IS THIS DAY!

Obligatory truck I donât trust reblog
The greatest assassins fear only one thing:
âYou think every citizen should have access to free and accessible healthcare?â
Wrong!!!
I think that Asylum seekers and Migrant workers and The Undocumented and Everyone Else should get free healthcare too
I love immigration
This one made the fascists and the racists really really mad. I get hate mail daily for this post
Imagine getting mad because someone elseâs childâs chemotherapy doesnât cost them 100,000$ .
Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific Series in Active Development
Buried at the end of an article in The Hollywood Reporter on Supergirl's development came an exciting reveal: a Mister Terrific series starring Edi Gathegi is in active development, with Allan Heinberg writing the pilot.
Heinberg is no stranger to superhero projects. On the comics side, he has written Wonder Woman and JLA for DC, and co-created and wrote Young Avengers for Marvel. On the screen side, he wrote and produced Netflix's The Sandman (2022â2025) and wrote the 2017 Wonder Woman film. He's a strong choice for this kind of project.
Since we likely have a long wait before that first episode arrives, here is a pretty comprehensive list of Mister Terrific reading available on DCUI:
If this movie makes Mr Terrific a household name in the same way 2008 did for Iron Man, it will ALL have been worth it
It's a tv show, but yeah. :)
i love one (1) disaster wizard
Itâs a good metaphor tho, because the situation is never going to get better if you donât eventually pull the door. And afterwards, no matter what the damage was, youâll have a working cabinet, whatever plates you could salvage, and a place to start putting new plates.
Reblogging for that comment ^

TIL âYankee Doodleâ was written by the British to mock americans. âDoodleâ is thought to come from the German âdĂśdelâ, meaning âfoolâ or âsimpletonâ and âmacaroni,â a flamboyantly stylish type of dress, painting the Yankees as morons who thought placing a feather in oneâs cap made them a âdandy.â
via reddit.com
so youâre telling me that âstuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroniâ would be like saying âwrote a G on his belt and called it gucciâ
thatâsâŚa pretty good analogy actually
US moron came to town
Hunting for some coochie
Wrote a G up on his belt
And this bitch called it Gucci
