thoughts... this would have been a 4.5 star book IF i hadn't read the last 2 hours. after chapter 44, it just seems like broadbent tried to shove a whole other books-worth of content into the last few chapters, and in a half-assed way. it makes the last fourth of the book feel rushed and forced imo. and if i had to read "there she is" from raihn ONE (1) more time, i was going to snap my kindle in half.

things i need from fantasy authors:

1. normal height differences. not every male love interest has to be pushing 7ft to be attractive and not every female main character has to be below 5ft. please and thanks.

2. please give these motherfuckers a bar of soap. at least before any intimacy scenes. please. i know theyre vampires and fairies but u cant tell me that these mfs are not getting UTIs from hell.

3. stop. rushing. the romance. in. the. first. book. please. i do not want a chapter of nonstop lovemaking when these mfs have been acting like they hate each other for the last 40 chapters. ur going from 0 to 100 in a way that is not satisfying at all.

4. sort of revisiting point one, if ur FMC is strong enough to singlehandedly fight monsters or can outrun them or is fit enough to handle weapons, please make her be built as such. why is someone who should be built like rhea ripley being described as having the build of a 12 year old??
