Sterek Meme: [1/5] Favorite Parallels ☆ Other character’s perspective on Derek vs Stiles’ perspective.

So, I was simply digging through my screencaps of Teen Wolf because I needed some reference photos for some art….and I felt like the biggest idiot in the world for never noticing this:

ALL OF THESE SHOTS ARE FROM THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF THE SAME. GODDAMN. EPISODE. SEASON 3, EPISODE 11.

THIS. 

As soon as we get full confirmation that the two of them are connected in some way, as seen by the first three screenshots, we then see Stiles getting into the tub at the end. And the camera doesn’t focus on anyone else…except for Stiles.

I have said this once and I will say it again:

Though the writing sucked in places, the cinematography for this show is exquisite, and not a single shot is an accident. This is just so perfect.

All of the writing for these two has been parallel to each other up until this point in the show, where their plotlines are finally merging together. This is right after Derek was willing to kill Jennifer in order to find Stiles’ father for him. (which, by the way, is Derek showing how much he values family, because he knows Stiles’ pain and what it means to lose the ones you love)

We are shown that they are each other’s anchors…and then at the end of the episode we are specifically shown Stiles being singled out when he goes into the water.

The camera work focuses on him. For a reason.

This was the start of something that was never followed through with, not entirely, because the writers chickened out, and for that I will never forgive them. But this. THIS.

THIS. IS. IMPORTANT.

We are deliberately shown that Stiles’ anchor is Derek at the beginning of episode and then he went into the water without the right anchor.

Which then leads us to the nogitsune plotline. Perfectly.

This proves that a door was left open because he had the wrong anchor.

We could get a beautiful scene with flirting Derek and Stiles and see the new stage of their relationship. But no, Jeff somehow thinks it’s better to show us that shitty ending where Stiles and Lydia are walking alongside but they are clearly NOT TOGETHER and everything screams about it: hands in pockets, the distance between them, those awkward smiles and looks. I can’t. 

And Derek is shown as a part of Scott’s pack and it’s so stupid decision and disrespect for his character because he was never part of it and never will be. He has his own path, his family, and Stiles is definitely there as his anchor and the emissary of his pack.

What if I tell you that almost all those iconic Sterek moments were improvised or added later?

Ok. They added so much tension between Derek and Stiles with hidden exchange of looks. ONLY Derek and Stiles. It’s just ridiculous:

‘Derek, Scott and Stiles all share confused glances’. Sure.

It’s so obvious who are the married couple. Come on.

Derek: What about you?

Stiles: Yeah, if you want me to come…

Derek: NOT you.

Stiles: Scott? *disappointed*

How about the season 1-2 drafts/scripts? Let’s take a look.

We all know about two scenes from season 1 that were improvised. 

1) This iconic moment from 1.06:

Stiles: It was loud. And it was awesome.

Derek: Shut up.

Stiles: Don’t be such a sourwolf.

2) Dylan and Tyler said once (Alphacon’14) they added that moment in the jeep when Derek hits Stiles with his head on the steering wheel. 

That’s true. 

1.09:

Derek: By the way, one more thing. 

Stiles: Yeah? 

Stiles: Oh, God! What the hell was -

Derek: You know what that was for. Go. Go!

Btw what’s with that look, Derek? Or Tyler? 

I need answers… 

Well, and the cherry on top is… what if the gayest scene on television and the most famous Sterek scene was not originally in the script? What do you say about that?

Ahaha are they serious? Stiles’ hand on Derek’s shoulder. That moment of awkward flirting was not originally in the script too? Wow. Give me a break.

2.08. Another touch but from Derek now:

Derek *I’m sorry, but I appreciate what you did* Hale. This is a different level of relationship and emotions. Much more deep and subtle.

Lmao what can I say? Jeff, sucks to be you ‘cause you’ve done nothing to show their relationship development in many ways. NOTHING. Not that I’m surprised.

I bet this gentle touch was also their improvisation:

 …and a million other ones when there were intimate moments between Derek and Stiles.

So, anyway. I’m dying from the fact how much we don’t know what happened bts of the show and what was original/added. It’s just a disaster.

Summary:

He stares at himself in the mirror. His cheeks are faintly blotchy, flush sparsely coloring down his neck. His eyes look glassy and half-crazed. “Get it the fuck together,” he growls lowly to his reflection. “You lose everything. Get fucking used to it.”

He can’t stop thinking about it. How Derek looked at him, said his name reverently rather than disdainfully.

He sits on the shower floor, shivering even though the spray is far too hot. He keeps replaying the words over and over - sometimes the person someone shows us and the person we choose to see are two different people.

For the first time, Stiles seriously takes a moment to consider that perhaps he has never known Derek Hale at all
