please understand that people with avpd have a lot of trouble being honest about their feelings, and will sometimes even go to great lengths to pretend theyre okay

this can get very overwhelming, and a lot of the times we really do want to say that something is bothering us, but we feel like we would be a burden if we ever did mention it

i know its a lot of work, but it would seriously mean so much to us if you could cooperate with us on this and help us open up on what’s upsetting us

There should be adopting centres for lonely INFPs. When you’re too shy and socially anxious to meet people in RL, but can’t really find someone on the internet either. You could go there and the friendly person at the desk would go “Of course! Just fill out this form and we’ll either find potential friends or mentors for you.” Anyone can volunteer of course, but they have to pass an INFP-deviced test first. And the centre would be full of puppies and flowers. Yep.

I keep trying to explicitly establish to friends & family what it is that I truly like & value, what I want to do & create, but they assume I'll like their suggestions better. And these suggestions often invalidate who I am/what I just said. Like, I want to do artistic photography, and they want me to take sports/events/so-not-creative-expressive images. It kills me everytime they say that. Are they not actually hearing me, or are they purposefully trying not to hear me? I am not like you!!!

I have this same problem. I want to be a musician, but kept getting pushed towards programming and math just because I'm "good" at it. I'd probably go insane if that was my career.
