From the very beginning millions of years ago when we came down from the trees the story goes, if you can believe it,we moved to caverns and we had to survive and learn about fire making and discover about food that needed to be charred at first but then after having our bellies filled ,we fell in a stupor and fell asleep .Then came the first cry for art and with grease ,ashes ,carbon ,and mineral we drew our first memories and graffiti was born .Well,our cities are decaying and walking around Brooklyn ,the Bronx seeing old abandoned buildings ,brings me back to those caverns filled with pictographs and our clumsy attempts to leave our mark .Look carefully at these buildings,these brownstones and tell me ,if you can’t see our apes covered in pelt spirits scribbling animals ,well these days each artist signing their graffiti artwork in a darkened place.Reflecting their true nature ,apes ,living in a so called developed world which is a joke ,more like a third world country behavior full of human beings still living and creating art late at night when the regular apes ,simian ,are deep in their third dream.Yes ,the poor and drug addicted, the zombie looking, hungry and sick finding a wall to draw and expressing their primitive drives so intoxicated and sad, it is easy for a shaman to travel in time and see no difference between then and now.Words by Sergio GuymanProust.
