And goddammit but the MINUTE I saw women walking around in those orange pilot jumpsuits, there were literal tears. And when we got a woman ACTUALLY!!! FLYING!!! AN X-WING!!!! I CRIED MOOORE

X-Wings were my childhood. Like seriously. I had the Lego set, figurines, computer games, comics, book series I read till it fell apart. I wrote shitty fanfic and made shitty fanart. I had a commemorative X-Wing pin. And after some serious post-Star Tours begging on my part, my parents bought me one of those pics with your face inserted into a Star Wars scene. It was my most treasured possession. I just dug it out and omg. Lil 10 year old me’s face shopped onto some potbellied dude in an X-Wing pilot’s uniform. That’s what I picked. Complete with a fake bob because the cutout wasn’t designed for long hair.

(And it was only recently I learned that they actually scrapped footage of female X-Wing pilots from the original trilogy. They had it, and G Lucas scrapped it.)

james and dolley madison visited tjeffs so often that tjeffs made them a special room called the “madison guestroom”

said guestroom was shaped like an octagon, tjeffs’s favorite shape

every bed in monticello is an “alcove bed” which is a bed pressed against a wall, in a small closet as to save space

everyone in monticello fucking hated the alcove beds

when dolley madison came to visit, she complained non stop about the alcove beds

tjeffs’s bed was a super weird type of alcove bed, it was in the middle of two rooms (his bedroom and his study), so he could move through the two rooms quickly

tjeffs had a special closet above his bed that could only be accessed by ladder

tjeffs recorded the weather everyday and so did jmadz

tjeffs collected seeds and had a green room connected to his study

jmadz fell in love with dolley shortly after her first husband died of yellow fever but was too shy to introduce himself so he made aaron burr do it for him

when jmadz was on his deathbed, he would stay in his study, which was connected to the dining room, and for every meal, dolley would make him a tray of food and he would sit in the doorway on a chair, still talking to his guests

dolley had a dinner party of at least 20 guests every night

tjeffs started the paleontology craze in the us and he kept fossils in his foyer for his guests to look at

jmadz played the flute

jmadz had two portraits and a bust of tjeffs in his living room

tjeffs invited jmadz and monroe to move near monticello so they could visit more but jmadz declined

tjeffs said there was no better place in the us than monticello

jmadz refused to sit at the head of the table bc he liked to sit near his guests more, so dolley sat at the head instead

jmadz often made jokes about jefferson and tjeffs would laugh so hard he’d cry

jmadz had a tiny pocket thermometer/compass that he would carry in his pocket when he went horse riding

jmadz had a library of 400 books
