“Gege, you’re awake?” San Lang murmured as he opened his eye. His uncanny ability to see Xie Lian at his worst never failed. He observed his husband’s flushed cheeks with curiosity. “Is my wife feeling well this morning? Did you have a pleasant rest?”

Xie Lian felt his cheeks then turn every shade of crimson, hearing himself called ‘wife.’

“San Laaaaaang!” he wailed and covered his face with his hands. Hua Cheng sat up and rested his chin on Xie Lian’s shoulder with a teasing smile.

“What’s the matter, Gege? Is Your Highness ashamed of his marriage to a Calamity like myself?” Though spoken in jest, Xie Lian could hear the faintest flicker of concern in his words.

He turned to lean into San Lang’s arms, burying his face against the ghost’s still uncovered chest.

“Never,” he muttered, “It is you who has every right to be ashamed, wedding the god of trash and misfortune.” He felt Hua Cheng flinch at that remark, as though it had wounded him. And the next moment Xie Lian found himself pulled into a kiss, reverent and pious in the way his lips were captured again and again and again.

“I have wed the most perfect being in all three realms,” the sound of Hua Cheng’s dark whisper in his ear made the prince shiver, “I have wed my God.”
