unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.

anyone who seriously talks about “America A” and “America B” is just trying to distinguish themself from Americans they consider their intellectual/cultural inferiors and I find it so fucking pretentious. I grew up middle/borderline lower middle class in the Midwest and I am now an east coaster with a graduate degree and while there are differences between coastal city dwellers and what elitist pricks would call “flyover country,” framing them as two separate societies is both delusional and makes you sound like a huge asshole.

And maybe I would find the effort to categorize people slightly more compelling if it wasn’t constantly broken down to “America A is classy and educated and cool” and “America B is tacky and eats McDonald’s for every meal and goes to the megachurch.” I think there are actually more types of Americans than that.
