Yearend photodump in which, despite the god-awful year that is 2020 and whilst powering through my depression, I am deeply thankful for the little joys and small acts of love that found me throughout these trying times: my friends gifting me cookies and brownies for the holidays, and even on random occasions; my mom peeling pomelos for me in the afternoons while I’m working from home; weekends spent reading to the point of getting lost between the pages; Zelda and her shrill bark whenever a delivery guy comes knocking on our door. My dad buying us fresh mangoes and coconut water. The truffle carbonara at Tablo’s. Waking up on mornings not feeling like shit. Or frankly, just waking up okay even when I don’t feel like waking up at all.
In the grander scheme of things, these might feel all so insignificant given how physically, emotionally, and mentally taxing this year has been, but I think it bears merit to acknowledge that whatever we’re going through—though it may be of different circumstances—we’re still allowed to celebrate even the tiniest of comforts and the smallest of wins. That should be okay. Because I am grateful that my heart is a muscle capable to stretch and make room for more kindness. I am grateful for surviving. I am grateful for now.
Nostalgia never looked so warm and pretty.
Punta Sebaring, Balabac, Palawan
Some Balabac snaps back from March BC (before COVID). It’s so strange how this all feels like a lifetime ago. I feel like these photos are memories of someone else; the girl I was, I could no longer recognize.

Koh Phangan, Thailand

Wat Pho, Bangkok, Thailand
I’ve been doing such a poor job of keeping this photoblog alive since everything goes to Instagram these days. I’d like to think its convenience is what keeps me there, but there’s also something so dangerously infectious being on that app all the time and being so obsessed with curating your feed that I’ve completely forgotten about the hundreds of unprocessed photos gathering dust on my hard drive. Anyway. Here’s a photo from Krabi, Thailand, taken in July 2019 - an example that I have tons of other overdue photos waiting to have a home in this space.
wouldn’t trade coron for anything else tbh

Long overdue March 2019 photo dump because I have neglected this blog for far too long.

Storm’s end
The first two days in the island have been riddled by thunderstorms. At some point, we tried waiting for the storm to pass, but in the end, we had to brave through it to get to our destination. I feel like there’s a metaphor in there somewhere that I could relate to the disaster that was 2018, but that’s a story for another time.
Starting 2019 in Siargao only proves that I will always and forever be an island girl.

I was either swimming in a lagoon or battling the waves in the middle of the ocean the entirety of this Siargao trip. Which is the closest thing to heaven I could probably get.
Also, I should learn how to post photos of myself here more often without eventually feeling guilty, lol
I’m just a girl, standing in front of this neighbourhood, asking it to adopt her.
