I traced out the family tree, Penelope is not a direct or even close relative of her husband, she has no claim to the throne of Ithaca. At most, the suitors would become a prince of Sparta by marrying her, also there is another major issue.

Ithaca already has an heir, Telemachus, the common people probably wouldn’t accept a random guy married to the queen with no direct relation to the royal bloodline as their king when they have the kings son right there. If Telemachus dies and somehow Penelope’s husband gets a claim to the ithican throne, there needs to be a line of succession, and Penelope isn’t young.

At her youngest, she would be late 30’s, although more likely early to mid 40’s, possibly even older. The odds of her having another child at that age would be slim.

This whole plan just seems overly complicated and relies on a lot of unlikely events occurring, they had a much easier (albeit more indirect) path to the throne.

Try to get Telemachus to marry one of their close female relatives, likely a sister or daughter, if she has a son and Telemachus somehow mysteriously dies young, they (as the uncle or grandfather to the infant king) would likely become regent for at least the next 15 or so years. This kind of thing was done all the time throughout history, it would be much quicker, easier, and much more likely to go their way.

1433 BCE- Helen, Clytemnestra, Pollux, Castor Born

1424 BCE- Helen abducted by Theseus

1422 BCE- Helen returned after brothers rescue her

1421 BCE- wedding of Achilles parents, golden apple, Paris promised most beautiful woman in world as wife

1421 BCE- Achilles born

1418 BCE- Clytemnestra married to king of Lydia (actually part of the mythology, sources I saw say she either married the king of Lydia or Tantalus before Agamemnon)

1417 BCE- newly widowed Clytemnestra marries Agamemnon (Iphigenia born the same year)

1414 BCE- suitors start to compete for Helen’s hand

1407 BCE- Helen married Menelaus, oath of Tyndarius allowed Tyndarius to safely choose after years

1406 BCE- Paris Successfully reclaims title as Trojan prince after years of trying, creates plan to take Helen as wife

1406 BCE- Neoptolemus born to Achilles and Deidamia (this is the “Neo” from “the horse and the infant”, at least I’m 90% sure)

So here’s the family tree, I made the different lines different colors just to make it easier to understand, also I was wrong about some of the math (sorry)

Odysseus- 39.84%

Penelope- 81.7%

Telemachus- 60.77%

Part 1- Penelope and Odysseus

Head-cannons

1. Penelope is 2 years younger than Odysseus, they met at 15 and 17 when they were betrothed.

2. The betrothal lasted 7 months because Icarius was not very happy about his daughter marrying the king of a small far off island. He kept them betrothed for so long because he was hoping Odysseus would get impatient and break the arrangement, but he didn’t.

3. The only reason Icarius agreed to the betrothal because Odysseus had the support of Tyndarius (who was a co king of Sparta and controlled half the army), this is also the only reason he tried to push Odysseus into breaking it off instead of just doing it himself.

4. During the betrothal, Odysseus and Penelope communicated mostly through letters with the occasional visit from Odysseus to Spartan court also happened.

5. The part of Sparta that Penelope would miss the most were the mountains, so Odysseus painted one of the walls in the room they would share in Ithaca like a view of the mountains from her father’s gardens. The other walls were murals showing the myths she often told him she enjoyed.

6. They left for Ithaca 2 weeks after getting married.

7. Odysseus continued to expand the palace he had built for himself and Penelope over the next 2 years, he added some gardens to remind her of home, a bird pond so she could feed ducks, etc

8. It took about 2 1/2 years for them to have a child, Telemachus.

9. The Trojan war started when Telemachus was 1 1/2 years old, Odysseus tried to avoid the draft with Penelope’s help but of course, didn’t work because he wasn’t about to kill Telemachus to sell the bit. (Odysseus tried to pretend to be mad, one of the men collecting the kings bound by that oath didn’t believe him and tested it by putting Telemachus in a situation where Odysseus either killed him or gave up the lie and saved him).

10. While at war Odysseus and Penelope often exchanged letters between each other, sharing events in both sides (how the wars going, how Telemachus is growing, how Ithaca is doing, annoying soldiers, etc) and dripping with affection and filled with pet names.

11. When they reunited for the first time, Odysseus and Penelope both broke down in tears and were pretty much attached at the hips for months afterwards.

Timeline (very basic)

1424 BCE- Odysseus born

1422 BCE- Penelope Born

1407 BCE- engagement between Penelope and Odysseus

1406 BCE- Marriage between Penelope and Odysseus

1404 BCE- Telemachus born

1403 BCE- Trojan War starts

1393 BCE- Trojan War ends

1389 BCE- suitors starts to show up

1. Wedding dress for the generation born in the surface (shown by SkSw Zelinks oldest daughter and her husband).

HC- theres already a small wealth gap shown, you can see it in the dress they both wear. She makes his and he makes her, his is more brightly colored and embroidered because she can afford richer dyes and has more free time to embroider compared to him.
