Sugar needed a vacation, or just one day off. That was all she asked for and, yet, here she was. Assisting Art with a case, it felt more like babysitting as she watched him go back and forth with her brother, Nice. How Hamatora always ended up involved with her, she didnât know. Not that she minded, she enjoyed seeing her brother, Hajime was good company to her, and sheâd known Birthday and Ratio for a good five years now. Add onto that, Honey and her got along fairly well and she always had a good manga recommendation from Three, even Murasaki had his qualities, but she didnât talk much with him personally.
Stuffing her hand into one of the pockets of her sweater, Sugar pursed her lips and then sighed. âArt, look, I love working with you, really, but you donât really need my help with Hamatora involved do you? You and I have been losing so much sleep lately, is it possible for me to take off just for today?â
The silver haired boy broke off his argument with Nice and turned to his friend. âSugar, I donât see why not. Youâve been a really big help lately and hardly complain. I guess I kind of forgot that you tend to keep yourself bottled up to the point of breaking..â She smiled half-heartedly and rubbed her head, messing her dark brown hair a little. âThanks, Art. Let me know what time you need me tomorrow!â She waved to the two of them and pulled her car keys out of her pocket.
âSugar!â Nice quickly caught up with her and smiled. âWhy donât you stop by Cafe Nowhere? Iâm sure Master could fix you up a really nice cup of tea there.â She tapped her cheek and nodded. âThat does sound nice, actually. I think I will.â Thanking him, she opened her car door and hopped in. She didnât do anything for a few moments, she was thinking about if she really wanted to head over to Cafe Nowhere or not. Of course.. It was always a chance to see him.
Having made up her mind, she started up her car, the engine grumbling. She loved this car, as it was her first car, but it had taken a good bit of use to it and protested often. She skillfully pulled out of the parking space and drove towards Cafe Nowhere, thoughts of how she was going to relax occupied her mind. Sighing, she reasoned to going to the gym later and then finally getting around to finishing that novel she had been reading for a while. She pulled up to the cafe and was about to pull the key out when her car died.
She got out and sighed, placing her hands on her hips. "Seriously? I just had you checked out too. Why did you have to die right. here.?â It was hopeless, sheâd never get an answer out of it and, so, she grabbed her keys and headed into the cafe. She would call someone about the car later. âSugar! Itâs good to see you!â The woman smiled and waved to Koneko. âGood morning.â She sat down at the counter after placing her sweater over the back of the seat.
âMaster, could I get a cup of black tea?â âSure, thatâll be 160Yen.â She set the money on the counter just as someone walked into the cafe. âHeey, isnât that Sugar? Long time no see, huh?â It was like a magnet, the moment Birthday knew she was there, there he was. Sighing, she glanced over his shoulder to see his partner, Ratio. Her heart did a couple of small flips before she looked away. âHello, Birthday. How have you been?â âWhat, did I do something? Youâre talking to me like Iâm a stranger. Five years has to mean something.â
She waved his hand away when he went to poke at her cheek and huffed. âIâm tired, Birthday. Donât play games with me.â âDonât you get enough sleep?â Her voice was lost when she heard the other male speak up from his seat. âBirthday, if she hits you again, Iâm not sure even I could patch you up.â She could feel the warmth in her cheeks and quietly thanked Master for her tea. She nearly dropped the cup when Birthday spoke up again. âLook at that, still the same old Sugar.â âWh-whatâs that supposed to mean?!â
