The reaction to the age gap in Licorice Pizza and the age gap in CMBYN... interesting... and by interesting I mean it's really obvious a lot of people don't care about age gaps nearly as much when the characters are straight.

i don’t think either age gap is ok but the reason why cmbyn got a lot more controversy i think is bc the relationship was consummated in various ways and was sexual. licorice pizza’s only nonplatonic aspect was a kiss at the end, which imo, was meant to show how fucked up the older character is and how she hasn’t grown. there’s no consummation whatsoever outside of that
