THE Year Hare Affair genderfluid icon (aka Masked Ukranian as I call them)(kind of a ramble? This isnt planned)
This character is THE single character with multiple consistent appearances who just KEEPS CHANGING GENDERS!!
Firstly, the Masked Ukranian was introduced back in 2022 when the war between Russia and Ukraine was building up.
This gender issue already appeared in their first comic! Where, below, you can see them go from a male Ermao (no eyelashes) to wearing a female mask!
This ordeal being present even in their first appearance does sustain my point!
My main question is: why was this gender disparity there in the first place? Now, I dont speak chinese, and when translating this first comic (available below if youre interested), its mostly about the money sent to Ukraine and doesn't mention the mask in any way. I hope this isnt a dumb me moment, but if you have any insights on this, please enlighten me!
Either way, after being "force femmed" when gaining the mask, the Masked Ukranian goes back to being a boy in their second appearance!
The mask lost the lashes somehow (elaborating when Im done presenting all my evidence)
But then, after this, they go back to being girly, and it stays that way for the Russia-Ukraine war high YHA was on when making comics back then.
However, in the most recent comic as of making this post, oir beloved Masked Ukranian is back-- as a boy?
Which is weird! From what I can tell, the artist hasn't changed (I couldn't find anything on the company seemingly in charge of illustrating the comics tho, so take this with a grain of salt), and they did appear frequently enough with lashes back then that most decent refrence pictures they could've pulled up to make this new comic WOULD HAVE HAD THE LASHES!!!!
Finally, I can say *my* headcanon about all this (since I doubt this gender issue is porpuseful):
The Masked Ukranian is genderfluid (yay!)
Eagle clearly doesn't give a single fuck about it either
Lastly, I like to say they're fine with all genders (I'm still quite fond of calling them a "she"), and frankly, nobody but me cares this much and this character is barely relevant in yha overall, so I can do what I want
