25 Days of Harry || Day 20: Harry + teasing

Harry Styles will attend his first Met Gala in May. Never one to do things by halves, the 25-year-old will make his debut on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s red-carpeted stairs not as a normal guest but as one of the evening’s co-hosts.

Alongside Gucci’s Alessandro Michele, Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Anna Wintour, Harry will act as an ambassador for the event which will celebrate the opening of Camp: Notes On Fashion, the latest exhibit to be staged at the landmark NYC museum.

Never one to shy away from a not-so-subtle touch of camp fashion, Harry is the perfect name to step into the role for the swanky soiree. But, serving as co-chair, what will Harry actually have to do?

The fashion at the Met Gala always references the exhibition’s theme - think Rihanna in her ecclesiastical ensemble at last year’s Heavenly Bodies event - so it will fall on Harry to set the precedent on the fashion front. While it is still unknown what designer he will wear to the Met Gala on May 6, the likelihood on it being Gucci is pretty sky high. As a campaign face and with the Italian house acting as a key sponsor, it is almost certain that lavish tailoring enthusiast Harry will wear one of Gucci’s decadent suits. As co-chair, it’s a given that Harry is going to need to bring some camp to the carpet.

In the past, Met Gala hosts have taken to the stage during the exclusive dinner. With Harry and Gaga both billed as co-hosts, could we be due a duet from this polymath pairing? That could be quite marvellous, and also truly camp if both bring their stagey A-game.

The role of a co-chair also expands into the guestlist, the food, the decor and the general feel of the evening. While we are all familiar with boyband Harry, solo star Harry, actor Harry and model Harry - on May 6 we will also get to meet party planner Harry. Here’s hoping Gucci gets him a clipboard.
