Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

recently saw ppl discuss whether they put their medicines in a kitchen cabinet or a bathroom cabinet and i was shocked by the fact that many ppl said kitchen cabinet. so now i need you to reblog this and say where you keep yours
Generic medicines like paracetamol, ibuprofen etc are in the top kitchen cabinet (well out of the reach of littlies.)
I keep my specific meds (codeine, Valium, tramadol and sleep pills) in a locked box at the top of the bedroom closet.
oh, btw, i'm gonna sound really harsh here but if you don't wanna wear sun cream because you have sensory issues, i'm sorry but you gotta suck it up or stay inside.
i say this as someone with autism related sensory issues who's never liked wearing sun cream. and i say this as someone who's dad also has autism related sensory issues and would absolutely refuse to put on any sun cream until he learned the hard way and got melanoma (type of skin cancer).
a few hours or even a full day of discomfort is better than months of going into hospital to get your skin burned by dry ice or chemicals. and that's best case scenario. worse case scenario is it spreads and you fucking die.
the sun doesn't care about your autism. it'd be nice if it did, but it's a giant ball of plasma. it's a borderline eldritch god which will bow to no one.

Melanoma is no joke - even if it’s caught early, removal is brutal. Under the cut is a photo of a melanoma removal on my arm. They removed 5cm (2") of tissue all around the cancer to make sure it was gone. Left a big fkkn hole and ruined my tattoo.

How it feels to be middle-aged in trans artist spaces.
Not a complaint! Almost without exception I’ve been made very welcome but that generational divide always plays on my mind.
We need more old trans people in our spaces so badly. It’s really hard sometimes to see a future where we can live instead of dying young. I wish I had trans people your age in my town.
When I first started getting involved in online trans spaces, I was very hesitant about revealing my age as the demographic skews quite young and who wants to talk with someone the same age as your crusty old parents, right? Not to mention the whole "inappropriate age-gap" thing that’s infected online spaces.
But on the whole, people have been very kind and welcoming and your sentiment of "seeing that there can be a future" is one that’s been said to me many times before.
If I don’t achieve anything else in this life, just being the inspiration for one other person to keep persisting will have been enough.
