Ik it's Alice's day and I haven't been talking much IDV, but a fun fact I learned recently is that magnolia trees are REALLY old as a species, having evolved around 95 million years ago. They actually weren't pollinated by bees and were rather pollinated by ancient beetles, which is why magnolia flowers are have tough carpels (to withstand beetle mandibles). The carpels (female parts) are also similar to the stamen (male parts) to have beetles spend longer on the flower and ensure pollination.
As for bees, they evolved from wasps that were around about 120 million years ago. It's really interesting to me to think about how bees somehow came from a carnivorous insect.
Anyway, I've had this idea for a "meet me under the magnolia tree" piece with Wendy and Melly...I'm thinking about the gender symbolism...
WENMELLY MENTIONED AHHH!!!

Idv boycott guidelines from ZeezVovGee
If you're confused/unsure why sm people are boycotting - the full video might help (just look up zeez on yt)
Zeez is one of the biggest na/eu idvtubers so these guidelines prob will be widespread on other platforms where idv is mentioned.
The anime is wonderful.. I am so inspired! i needed to finish this right away!!

Windchaser I miss you so bad
I keep getting caught up in the line in her character backstory:
Since that day, Wendy often blamed herself. Perhaps if she had the ability to predict the weather, her father might not have left.
What's interesting is the phrase "might not have left". Not that he was taken by the storm or simply that he died. That he 'left' and had 'departed for another world'.
So it's interesting to think about Camilla's phrasing in Wendy's first letter:
Here within these small tin walls, I believe we may realize our dreams and establish our World of Meteorology.
There's something here about worlds being created or destroyed or departed for, and how Wendy puts responsibility on herself to build these a world that is so grounded in knowledge and predictability that Wendy's life is not at risk of becoming unstable or upended (by that which she now dedicates her life to studying).
And because I can't not think about Wenmilla, I wonder to what extent Camilla's leaving only pushed Wendy further into her research, to create a world that she and Camilla and her mother (who may hopefully one day see the truth of Wendy's burden and self-loathing, but also the real way her brilliance shines) can live in together.
(I hope my posts are at least a decent balance between talking about Wendy as her own character and her relationship with Camilla, and my own speculation on Camilla as her own character. I'll get there one day TT)
These themes are very prevalent in Windchaser and Ms. Saucer's story! Windchaser created an entirely new society/city centered around creativity and freedom on this moving floating island and Ms. Saucer is part of a little girl's coping mechanism to distract her from the real world!
It's so interesting that both costumes share the same ending/conclusion, in which Wendy's ideal world seemed to be only in her imagination or somewhere where no more storms can reach her. But of course like in the endings of both skins, it ends up backfiring as "Wendy"(WC/MS) needs to come down to reality either way.
The thing I ponder the most over Windchaser is the fact that WC seems hesitant to "come back home", as Gardener's A tier drugs her and the Islanders so she could take control of the island to fly back home. The thing is, Windchaser expresses the same amount of homesickness as Gardener does, but it's like she'd rather procrastinate on the idea of going home instead.
It made me think that Wendy is ashamed of going home to her mother after coming up empty handed with her research. Which probably made it sting even more once she passed away, knowing that she waited "too long" for the right moment to come home... Ms. Saucer's evident loneliness and attachment in her own story is something that's been proven in Wendy's letters too... Ohhh don't be sad white girl :-( ...
Augh you're reminding me I have to sit down one day when I'm free (somehow...) to watch the essence trailers and read through cosmetic design notes. This is all really wonderful points to build off with, and great info for me to learn to in order to learn more about Wendy.
I think longing/homesickness and shame definitely plays into her character. With her blaming herself for her father's death there's a longing for a childhood (or rather family) she can't have anymore. And shame and self-loathing already plays into everything with Wendy's big storm resulting in her mother believing she was so brilliant she ought to send Wendy off to college. With Wendy doing deeper into her studies and crossing the ocean, it's a combination of desperation to prove herself but I can definitely also see the angle of "she failed in her home country, even when moving between states, now she's running further and further away so she can't face the shame of failure or disappointing her mother who believes in and supports her so much. maybe she can build that successful world for herself elsewhere."
Love hearing about people's different interpretations and what they know about characters because I know so little, this was a wonderful addition, tysm!
No problem!!! And don't rush into learning about Wendy, she only has a handful of lore to go off of after all (born yesterday...)
But other than cosmetics and trailers, I highly recommend you reading through the dialogue from the event "Sprouting Nocturne", it's Wendy's first ever appearance in an event alongside her interactions with the rest of game 10 (and qishiyi❓). I loved this event so much despite it being non canon in some parts of the character's personality, you can really see Wendy's love for freedom and innovation way before her birthday/dislikes and likes were announced! It was a little event that welcomed her nicely into the manor...
This dialogue for the longest time cemented how I see Wendy till now... It was really nice to see her ideals and struggles, and how she believes that EVERYONE should be given a fair chance in any kind of dream they want to strive for. It's so inspiring! She should be a poet honestly hahaa...
Also adding onto her desperation that you mentioned earlier, it's depressing to see her motives (in her trailer + deductions) turn from "I want to save everyone/I won't let anyone suffer the same fate as my father" to "I need/want everyone to believe in my skills!"... Being a woman in stem is really disheartening at times... It was like netease kept using her as a punching bag like it was crazy seeing 50 different things happening to her at the same time I would've just flown that cloud into the sun at that point 💧💧(which makes her resilience so inspiring too, as per what Camilla said about her UGHHH)

Amanda outfit inspired by the new Copycat role. It's basically freeze-frame if it was in the gamemode, it's scary... (you can see it under keep reading)
