SweetDream, found at sweetdream.ai, has rolled out video calls with select characters, and the reaction has been less about gadgetry and more about presence.

Spend time on the platform and you notice the video feature doesn't sit alone. It rests on everything else SweetDream already does well: the deeply customizable character creation, the chat that genuinely remembers what you told it last week, the voice messages and phone calls that sound unnervingly human. By the time a face appears on a call, you've already built a relationship with someone. The video just gives that relationship a window.

Never Enough

George Blume is a quiet, awkward, jittery 15 year old transgender boy who hides a secret about his gender while he attends Rushmore. His father, Herman Blume, pulled some strings at the academy so his son would be accepted, despite being born female. His two brothers, Ronny and Donny Blume, are not supportive of his ‘lifestyle’, or so they call it. Their mother, Mrs. Blume, thinks of George as an abomination, and calls out her husband for allowing their ‘daughter’ to mutilate herself in such a way, even socially. This disagreement causes a falling out between Herman and Mrs. Blume, ending in a very messy divorce. Ronny and Donny blame George for this, and the divorce hardens their hatred for their brother. As George continues to attend Rushmore, he meets Max Fischer, a young, eccentric 15 year old boy, who he takes a liking to. After Max is rejected by Rosemary Cross, who he’s obsessed over for months, he seeks comfort in his friend, George. Eventually, George and Max end up in a romantic relationship. George finally feels like he has something to live for, but Max only sees him as a rebound. He doesn’t even see George as a ‘real’ boy, and this causes multiple issues in their relationship.

As more and more issues arise, George becomes addicted to smoking, inhaling 4-5 packs per day to calm his nerves. Max argues that he isn’t queer, despite their relationship, because George doesn’t ‘count’ as a ‘real boy’. George is just a “girl playing dress-up” to him. George has been told all his life that he isn’t “valid”, that he’s a ‘freak’, simply because he identifies differently. He can’t take it anymore. He’s thought about suicide for a long time. A really long time. He’s never enough for anybody, why? Why? Because he’s different? Because of his identity? He realizes life won’t get any better than this if he chooses to live his truth. If he chooses himself, life will forever be filled with judgement, pain, and loneliness. But if he chooses to live a lie, to live as a “girl”, he will forever be unsatisfied with his life, and live a long, painful existence. He eventually comes to the realization that this battle is one that he, no matter what he chooses, will lose.

As a final attempt to win his battle against society, he climbs to the roof of his house and jumps into the pool. If he was going to be tortured for the rest of his life, he preferred it to be on his own terms. He knew deep down that no matter what, he would never be enough for anyone. He would never be enough for his parents, for his brothers, or for Max. Oh, Max. Some of his final thoughts were of him, and all he’s done to him. He knew that Max didn’t love him for who he was, if at all. But he forgave him. At least Max treated him like a person. That’s all he’s ever wanted - all he’s ever wished for- to be treated like a person. A real, breathing, living human. Breathing. It was getting hard to breathe. As George felt the water seeping into his lungs, he felt just the smallest bit of regret. Maybe he could’ve made it work. He could’ve grown out his hair, used his birth name, ‘Christina’, dropped out of Rushmore, and got a husband. Maybe he would’ve been happy. Maybe he would've been content. Maybe Max would even...love him. Just maybe. George feels a sudden burst willpower to get out, to try and survive, to swim back up and reclaim the life he tried to take from himself. As he struggles to swim to the top, he feels his body getting heavy. He stops moving. 

It was 2:41 PM on a Thursday afternoon when George Christina Blumes was declared dead. The funeral was held the week after. Everyone found out about his her secret, but they were all too mournful to care. George’s final wish was granted. In the end, he wasn’t a freak, a girl playing dress-up, or a misbehaving daughter. He was just a child- a person- who wanted to live against all the odds. He fought his battle until the end, and not even his mother could deny that.

Kisses

-His kisses feel heavy and slow. He doesn’t do light and quick pecks on the cheek, maybe occasionally a small kiss on your forehead, but even that lingers far longer than a peck. He doesn’t mind when you kiss his cheek, though. He basically allows you to kiss him anywhere.

-If You’re into lipstick or lipgloss, he loves seeing the mark it leaves when your lips press against his skin. It drives him crazy. Watch him refuse to wash it off for the rest of the day.

-Crocodile's lips get pretty dry and rough, but he's gotten used to it. Sometimes he'll let you put some balm on it if he's in a good mood.

Hugs

-I don't think he really does the whole hug thing.

-Now cuddles is a different story. He doesn't exactly like actively cuddle you at night, it's more like somehow you'll just end up on top of him and he will happily wrap his arms around you as you sleep.

-Something that he does do frequently is letting you sit on his lap. He loves it, especially if you end up dozing off while curled up on his knees. He thinks it's the cutest thing ever.

-He despises surprise hugs. Maybe once you guys have been together for a while he’ll allow it, but if you try to hug him from behind, he’ll just turn to sand or get angry at you.

Petnames

-Crocodile will usually refer to you as:

Baby, baby girl/boy/doll, sweetheart, darling, bunny, sweet little thing,

-Meanwhile, you usually refer to him as:

Baby, love/my love, big guy, honey, + any other nickname(s) you prefer
