I thought I’d post a rundown on the current and upcoming Gwilym Lee news out there for those interested…
Top End Wedding is currently out in theaters in Australia and New Zealand. No news yet on a wider release but I am watching for it. Check your local film festivals for the movie as that might be your best bet if you don’t live in those 2 countries.
Top End Wedding will have its UK premiere at Edinburgh International film festival on 6/25 & 27 and London premiere at London Australia Film Festival on 6/29. Unfortunately Gwilym is not expected to be at either at this time but I will put the word out if I hear that has changed.
According to Australian websites, the region B bluray and region 4 DVD of Top End Wedding will be out 8/21/2019. No word on other countries/regions but some other countries are compatible with the Australian regions I’ve listed so check that.
Legends of Robin Hood audio drama starring Gwilym is currently available in America on Audible and iTunes as well as a CD set on Amazon (check the sites in your country for availability). The Augustine Institute also offers it for sale.
The next time we see new Gwil on TV is expected to be on ITV in the Fall on the Mike Bartlett drama Sticks and Stones (based on his play Bull). From what I understand, it’s a sort of dark humor, thriller, drama about bullying in the work place. The lead is Ken Nwosu, and I don’t have much info on Gwilym’s character yet but I suspect it’ll be a very different role than we’ve seen him in so far. So I’m excited for it.
Also I’m really excited for Hulu’s Catherine the Great comedy/drama series The Great with Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult as her husband Peter. Gwilym plays Peter’s best friend Grigor and OMG I predict this show is going to be well… um… GREAT! 🤣 Written/produced by Tony McNamara of The Favourite. The pilot was filmed last December and it will resume shooting some time this year (possibly soon). Ten episodes to be aired on Hulu in 2020.
And finally Gwilym is involved with a project with Steve Waddington and other Jamestown castmates called Sex God. There is currently a crowdfunding campaign underway for a proof of concept trailer that they would then shop around to try to finance a full film. (see @steviewadsfilms Instagram for a link to the crowdfunding page and more about the project). Also! Gwilym will be SINGING and DANCING in this! This needs to happen so help if you can!!!
