Where everything seemed idyllic, until the horrific murder on New Years. Broadcasted for everyone to see by a mysterious hooded figure.

And Now, A Word From Our Monster

A mysterious package was discovered outside the office of Maple Spires Inquires early Sunday morning. Its contents were rather alarming. Inside was a bloody hand positioned in a crude gesture, along with a letter.

While everyone here is understandably uncomfortable with publishing The Hoodlum (our town's resident serial killer), we also feel it is imperative that this murderer be stopped. To that end, we will be printing the entirety of their encrypted message in the hopes that one of our readers will be able to crack the code. Perhaps there's a clue in here that could lead to the capture of this menace.

If you believe you have solved the above, please contact the local authorities. Sheriff Boyton, who currently leads the investigation, is asking for anyone with information related to The Hoodlum to come forward immediately.

The Shocking Remix of DJ Snazzpup !

A palpable sense of terror courses through the beleaguered streets of Maple Spires. For the second night this week, it appears a victim of the Hoodlum has been happened upon by neighborhood youths. Cherished local musical icon DJ Snazzpup was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived at the scene this evening. His remains were found scattered in pieces throughout the parking lot outside The Last Stop Diner.

This follows the discovery of James Colson just off Hanky Pank Ledge on Sunday, a murder which has already been attributed to the Hoodlum.

DJ Snazzpup is perhaps best remembered for his endearing Karaoke Night sessions every Wednesday at Captain McGee's Pirate Pub, on the corner of Rutherford and Main Street. He could also often be found spinning on Friday nights at Maple Lanes & Arcade ( + Pool Hall + Hot Pretzels), and once held a charity rave at Roger Price Memorial Park.

The trio of young adults that first discovered his remains (Mallory Evers, Sienna Imogen, and Xavier Plympton) are not currently suspected of being involved. One was unfortunate enough to find DJ Snazzpup's head adorned to the hood of their car.

“We are asking any possible witnesses to please step forward,” Sheriff Boyton announced during a brief interview earlier tonight. “At the moment, I am unable to go into any detail regarding these ongoing investigations, but rest assured that this suspect will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

But as the recent string of murders only seems to be intensifying in frequency and violence, few in this quiet haven will find it easy to rest for now.

In spite of recent events, the Winter Carnival is going forth. Though unlike previous years, there will be a strict 8 pm curfew. That being said, we are excited to announce the return of the ice sculpture competition! The winner receives $1,000 dollars and a lifetime supply of chop meat from Stead Fast Butchery.

Traditional carnival rides and treats as always.  Check out the Ferris wheel, house of mirrors, and grand carousel, tunnel of love, and much more! Get scared at everyone’s favorite winter-themed Haunted attraction The Ice Queen’s Revenge. Big Al will have his delicious funnel cakes! Grab one while they last. Along with many other wonderful locally owned food stands varied enough to satisfied any pallet!

On the last day of the event we will have our Traditional Maple Spire’s Winter Carnival Party. Though normally held at the Mayor’s Mansion, this year will be held at the Blossom Mansion. Open for the first time to the entire time. All are invited to enjoy our yearly winter Fireworks Display, which the Blossoms promise to be the most spectacular yet.

Police presence is expected to be increased from years prior.

POLICE ANNOUNCEMENT: At 7:26pm on January 31st, 2021, officers were dispatched to what is widely known as Hanky Pank Ledge.  A spot in which couples frequent and engage in sexual activity.

Minerva de L’estrella reported that The Hoodlum, former Mayor Agatha McKinley’s murderer, texted her phone their whereabouts.  A friend of hers and eye witness Katherine Pierce had been at the ledge.  At Hanky Pank Ledge, the body of James Colson (40) was discovered.  Witnesses Katherine Pierce and Malachai Parker claim they’d heard a thud and went to investigate, where they found the body of Colson at the base a tree.  Colson had been strung up with his own entrails, before collapsing to the ground below.  A threatening sign had been stuck to the body.  “I never saw anything like that before,” says Malachai Parker, age 22.  Parker was calm and collected while reporting what he’d seen.  “We were just sitting here, and we heard the body fell,” says Katherine Pierce, age 20.  She is shaken up, visibly upset by what she’d seen.

But late last night, someone in Maple Spires did. The famed Northwest Mega-Mansion, long renowned as the largest mansion within the town, was burned to the ground last night in what police are ruling a likely arson. Thankfully, the Northwest family was vacationing in their slightly smaller mansion in the town at the time. As a fun fact, that slightly smaller mansion is now the largest mansion in Maple Spires!

Police remain unsure if this arson is connected to the recent murder of Mayor McKinley. “Surely, we can all agree the type of individual to burn down a mansion might also be the type of individual to behead a mayor,” Sheriff Boyton claimed. “We can only hope there's just one such anarchist in our midst.”

We reached out to local celebrity Pacifica Northwest on the matter and were told, "It was our biggest one here but also our ugliest. Sad about my clothes but good riddance. Plus insurance is gonna probably buy us like a new summer house so whatever."

Still, many townsfolk wonder: “What if this happens to someone with just one house?” The mere thought of some depraved person committing arson and murder sends shivers down the spine. When will the police take action? Most can only sit and watch as our town declines into mayhem.

Signals hijacked to display a gruesome murder of the beloved mayor all over town.  The perpetrator of this crime claimed the moniker The Hoodlum, and promised this was just the beginning. Leaving town  shaken as it goes into the new year.

HOW  DOES IT WORK? – There truly will be an unknown killer selected from among

 active players in the game. If you are interested in being the killer, you put your name in the lottery. From that we will chose a random player as the killer. That player, may then decide upon their chosen final girl/guy and or accomplices. Players who are not the killer, may participate in weekly events/discover clues to help sus out the murderer.. This group verse will last about 3 months.

Tragedy rocked the quaint haven of Maple Spires this New Year. All of Shepherd County was tuned into the local channel 3 station for the annual ball drop. A tradition since young Timothy Bixter first crafted the papier-mâché ball for his famous 1982 science fair project, the spectacle has become a yearly favorite for surrounding parts of West Virginia. It was not a papier-mâché ball that plummeted at midnight, however.

“This is truly devastating and my heart goes out to Mayor McKinley's family,” Councilman Todd Rivers was quoted as saying after the horror. “Despite our bitter differences over the benefits of converting the local By the Bay Farmer's Market into a Big Lots, I have always held a deep respect for the mayor. Our town will never be the same without her.” 

Police are still investigating and no suspect is currently being held. Sheriff Boyton is on record as saying, “Beheadings are strictly forbidden in Shepherd County and the perpatrator of this heinous act will be brought to justice.” 

 As reassuring as that is, many can't help but wonder: what if this killer strikes again? Before running off into the night, the hoodlum left us with all an absolutely chilling message. “This is only the beginning.”
