I think if it's one thing that I see way too much of within the Constantine/Hellblazer space (and it's the one joke that gets reused to the grave) it's gotta be the "Don't forget, John slept with a shark!" "Oh yeah he and King Shark were a thing" "He canonically got with a shark!" Like omg we get it bro😭 it was funny at first but when you see it being repeated over and over again it gets annoying...it's seriously the one thing that I see a lot of non-Hellblazer readers say and they make it John's entire personality. You can't go 5 seconds under anything Constantine related before someone has to bring up his relationship with King Shark.

I don't have anything against the pairing itself, but when it's the only thing people bring up in relation to John's character, it gets so old. Also I should note that what happens in the DCAMU isn't canon to actual Hellblazer continuity, so no, John and King Shark have never canonically met or dated, yet I see many fans try to ingratiate DCAMU stuff with the comic stuff, they're separate media.

My point being fans and ppl in general who only think of Constantine as DC's "manwhore" despite how complex he is. Do they know that John is a victim of SA/rape and has constantly battled his hypersexuality? He genuinely despises everything about it and yet you get so many fans and non-readers who only make John's sex-life and dating habits his only personality trait. People who haven't read Hellblazer will be shocked to find out that John is not some freaky sex-pest who beds anything he sees....far far from it, yet anytime Constantine content blows up it's constant sex jokes. He gets the worst treatment by fans and non-fans alike.
