after three goodbyes

went from sitting on the back of your bike

to cycling home alone

the town more quiet than usual

felt sorry for me

Tears blurred my vision   

It even rained 

I became such a cliché

You brought out the softest side of me 

I’m sorry that I tried to take up space in your head

when none of your thoughts were spent on me

Pistachio green  What an odd colour It had never crossed my mind before

It looked so good on you the first time you walked towards me

Pistachio green  my new favourite colour

I am wearing pistachio green  receiving compliments the way I did  when I took you home with me for the very first time

Now you’re gone wish you could see how pistachio green  brings out the colour of my hair

I went hollow 

nine months

seem to have left

you with lines on your face

Your arms look like

they could finally hold me tight

You took off that bracelet that I loved so much

There must be a hundred other little things

that have changed since

Time is cruel like that

making things happen, taking you miles away

without asking for permission

but I know time is also good like that

healing wounds, bringing endless new opportunities

without having you realise it

so that there won’t be a part of me still

weak for you
