Postal delivery in Tyria seems to have run amok today. Aviator quaggan are being blown adrift, carrier pigeons and griffons seem to have lost their sense of direction. Hopefully someone in the Postmaster General's office will sort it all out soon. Until then you have inexplicably ended up with post meant for someone else. Maybe it's a letter that would have been more sensible to its intended recipient. Maybe it's an item. Maybe the sender is going to come looking for their lost parcel. Maybe you're going to be a good upstanding citizen and let them know what's happened...or maybe they're going to get your reply and be as confused as you were. After all, there's no communication like miscommunication!

The air crackles with the ionic charge of lightning a moment before the clouds burst open over the wrecked city of Lion's Arch. Workers scramble for cover, grabbing their tools as they retreat from the deluge. Clearly no more rebuilding can take place today. Throughout the day and night the rain falls--sometimes harder, sometimes waning to a dull drizzle. There's no escaping it while you stay in the city. The broken cobblestones of the streets flow with little rivulets (and sometimes full rushing streams) of water. The sewers swell. In low-lying areas, floods threaten.

Have you found a place to shelter and wait out the storm? Or are you caught out in the downpour completing some errand that cannot wait? What sorts of encounters will transpire while the rain falls?

GUILD WARS 2 ROLEPLAY ON DREAMWIDTH.ORG

◆What is this? Guild Wars 2 DWRP is our attempt to make a space for GW2RP that can take place in a more accessible and open format by utilizing the journaling site dreamwidth.org

◆ Why? Several reasons. The biggest reasons: Accessibility and flexibility.

After hearing and experiencing some difficultly breaking into the GW2 RP scene, we decided to try and do something about it by creating an open sandbox style community for GW2 roleplay.

We have found that while in-game interactions are great, it’s not always ideal for everyone. For some of us running the client just to RP can put high demands on our CPUs, the in-game chat character limits can become difficult to follow and result in clunky interaction, and the pressure to give instantaneous responses can take away from the writing aspect of the RP experience

With this in mind, we wanted to create a space where if people wanted to have instant “real time” interactions they could do that, but equally if people wanted to play out a scene at a slower pace, they could. We wanted to create a space where if people want to have short, conversational interactions they could do that, but if players wanted to write longer, more introspective and descriptive prose that was also an option

We also hate that we can’t RP with some people because of the EU and NA divide and have so far found no other means of bridging that gap between players. As such, Guild Wars 2 DWRP is open to everyone regardless of what server/world they play on.

◆ I don’t know how RP on DW works... Don’t worry, we’re here to help with that. Here is a post that will walk you through all the basics that you need to know. If you think you might be interested, check it out for a full lowdown on what we’ll be doing and how it will work.

◆ Okay, so what will happen in this community? How do we RP? Every Wednesday the mods will make an open RP post. It will contain a general setting and prompt, though these will be broad enough for each player to take in whatever direction that they desire. On weeks when the Tuesday patch contains a new event, expect that our weekly open RP post will mirror it. For example, if the Lunar New Year festival is on in-game, expect a post here that uses the festival setting. On other weeks, these posts will often contain weather events or quirks of the environment.

You can reply to these posts or make posts of your own. All of Tyria is your sandbox. If it can happen in-game, you can roleplay it here.

Our first open post will go up Tomorrow, Wednesday April 7th. In the meantime we have an Out of Character Meet & Greet to help get to know each other and get everyone started.
