Synopsis : When a tiny bookworm struggles to read a story trapped on impossibly large pages, Kento Nanami steps in with quiet practicality, offering a better solutionβhis shoulder and his voice. What starts as simple assistance soon becomes a moment of gentle comfort, as Nanami reads aloud in his steady, calming voice, allowing the reader to finally relax and enjoy the story.
CWs / Notes : Giant/tiny dynamics (size-difference, gentle handling). No explicit content (entirely SFW, focused on emotional intimacy). Nanami is his normal-sized self, while the reader is small (around 5 inches tall). The readerβs physical characteristics, gender, and name are ambiguous.
WC : 1.2k, hope you enjoy reading! β₯οΈ
The book was the problem.
Not the story. Never the story. The words were perfectβexactly the kind you could get lost in for hours if the world would just cooperate for once. But the pagesβ¦ the pages were enormous. Each one felt like a wall you had to climb just to read a paragraph, the text stretching endlessly in every direction.
You tried anyway.
Bracing your hands against the paper, you leaned forward, squinting as your eyes traced line after line. The ink was crisp, the sentences flowing, but it took forever just to get through a few. Every time you shifted, the page rustled under you like something alive, threatening to push you back.
It was slow. Frustratingly slow.
Your shoulders slumped a little as you paused, catching your breath, staring up at the next block of text like it had personally offended you.
A shadow fell over you.
βYouβre struggling.β
You didnβt need to look up to know it was Nanami. His voice was as even as everβcalm, matter-of-factβlike he was pointing out the time of day rather than your very obvious predicament.
βIβm fine,β you said, a bit stubbornly, leaning forward again as if that would prove your point. Your fingers pressed harder against the page, trying to inch yourself closer to the next line.
A pause. You could feel his eyes on you, assessing, calculating.
βYou are not,β he replied bluntly.
You huffed, pushing at the edge of the page again. It barely shifted, the thick paper refusing to cooperate. βI can manage,β you insisted, even as your foot slipped slightly against the smooth surface.
Another pauseβlonger this time.
ββ¦May I?β
That got your attention.
You glanced up at him, brows knitting together in confusion. βMay you what?β
Nanami adjusted his glasses slightly, his gaze steady but not unkind. βPick you up.β
Oh.
The answer came easier than you expected. βOhβyeah. Yeah, thatβs fine.β
He gave a single, small nod, as if confirming a straightforward request, then reached down.
His hands were steady and precise, movements controlled in a way that made it obvious he was being careful on purpose. When his fingers closed around you, the touch was gentleβfirm enough to support you, but never tight. He lifted you as if you weighed nothing at all, bringing you up without a single jolt.
For a brief moment, the world shiftedβdesk, book, everything falling away beneath youβbefore settling again as he guided you upward.
βI will place you on my shoulder,β he said, voice low and even. βTell me if you are uncomfortable.β
βOkay,β you murmured, instinctively steadying yourself against his hand.
He adjusted his grip slightly, then set you down on his shoulder with careful precision. The fabric of his suit was smooth beneath your hands, warm from his body heat. You instinctively leaned in just a little, finding your balance as the new height gave you a completely different view. However, you remained stiff so as to not disturb him.
The book no longer looked like an impossible wall.
It actually looked⦠readable.
Nanami shifted slightly, making sure you were secure. One hand hovered nearby for a second longer than necessary, just in case, before he seemed satisfied.
βAre you stable?β His voice was calm, steady, the same measured tone he used for everything, but there was a slight undertoneβjust enough to suggest that he genuinely cared about your comfort, not just out of politeness.
βYeah,β you said, a small bit of relief slipping into your voice, a soft exhale that carried some of the tension you hadnβt even realized you were holding. βThis isβ¦ way better.β The words felt almost silly in their simplicity, but you didnβt care. There was comfort here, in this quiet moment, in the fact that someone else noticed and cared about the smallest details of your position, your ease.
βGood. I will read,β he said. The authority in his voice didnβt feel intimidatingβit felt careful, intentional. βFollow along if you wish.β His words were an offer, no expectation beyond whatever made you feel settled.
He picked up the book with one hand, his fingers long and precise, curling around the spine with effortless familiarity. He held it at a comfortable angle, tilting it slightly so the light caught the pages just right, while his other hand subtly adjusted the positioning so you could see clearly, your line of sight unobstructed. The movement was small, almost imperceptible, but there was a thoughtfulness behind it that made your chest feel lighter, warmer, like a quiet acknowledgment that your presence mattered in ways he didnβt need to announce.
Then he began to read. His voice wasnβt dramatic. He didnβt try to act out the characters or exaggerate anything. It was steady, low, and clear, like he was presenting information in a meeting. And somehowβ¦ it worked perfectly. Every word landed exactly where it should. The rhythm was easy to follow. No rushing, no dragging. You didnβt have to strain anymore.
Minutes passed.
Maybe ten.
At some point, you stopped sitting so stiffly. You didnβt consciously decide to, didnβt even notice it happening at first, but slowly your muscles loosened, your shoulders dropped, and the tension that had wrapped itself around your spine uncurled. You leaned slightly to one side, then a little more, letting gravity guide you until you were fully settled against the side of his neck. The warmth radiating from him seeped into youβnot the kind that makes you fidget or pull away, not harsh or suffocatingβbut steady, grounding, tangible. A quiet anchor in the world around you.
Nanami didnβt stop reading. His eyes scanned the page with the same calm precision he always carried, his expression carefully neutral, as if the presence of the book mattered more than anything else. And yet, there was a subtle shift. A quiet exhale escaped him, barely more than a soft puff of air through his nose. It wasnβt irritation. It wasnβt impatience. It wasnβt anything you could even label fullyβit was something gentler, an almost imperceptible acknowledgment of your proximity, a sound that somehow reassured you even without words.
His shoulder shifted just slightly under you, a near-invisible adjustment, enough to support the lean of your body without drawing attention to it. He didnβt pause or glance down, didnβt make a show of the movement. He just turned the page, the gentle rustle of paper filling the tiny spaces between the beats of your own breathing. ββ¦and so,β he continued evenly, his voice smooth and measured, βthe matter was resolved without further incident.β
You realized you werenβt paying much attention to the words anymore. Not really. Instead, you were listening to the cadence of his voice, the steady rise and fall, the way it threaded through the room without filling it completely, like a quiet river winding through open spaces. You could feel its weight in your chest, in a way that made your thoughts slow, your pulse calm. Safe. That word floated unbidden into your mind, simple and undeniable. Safe.
Nanami didnβt comment on the weight of your body against him. Didnβt remind you to sit properly or shift yourself. He didnβt acknowledge the small intimacy in any overt way. He simply kept reading.
And yetβ¦ if you paid attention, really closely, you could sense it. The way his posture stayed just a little more careful than before, how his movements were just a touch more deliberate, as if every small motion had been measured so as not to disturb you. You would never hear him admit it aloud. He didnβt mention it. And somehow, that made it even more reassuring.
A/N : This fic was requested by @kittycat2837! (I hope you meant a small reader and not the other way aroundβLOL. I just assumed you wanted big Nanami because it wasnβt specified.) do you have any dragonkasa headcanons with Rui, like, any rui
going with wizard rui because. yes <3
imagine dragon!tsukasa who lives in a secluded cave where he collects gold for his hoard, always watching humans interact in a tiny village below but never approaching
he's intrigued by humans, and even if he doesn't want them to touch his hoard, he hopes his shiny gold will bring him company one day. and it does!
wizard!rui was a loner, someone who often went out into the "forbidden woods" to scavenge for materials. so what if there's a dragon? he wants his herbs!
one day, he was exhausted and had gone too far into the woods. determined to find a place to stay, he found a cave, where he saw a glitter inside. curious, he decided to investigate
much to his surprise, he finds a dragon's hoard, and a big dragon resting on top of it all. they make eye contact, but rui doesn't freak out, simply looking the giant dragon over before humming
"well, isn't this something? could i have some of your scales?"
tsukasa is so bewildered by the human's question that he ends up talking, something he rarely did in front of humans
"what??"
"oh, and you talk? how interesting!"
rui proceeds to harass the poor dragon with questions, ones that tsukasa answers albeit hesitantly. rui spends the night over in his cave, and the pair end up growing closer

I GOTCHA
i think it would take quite a bit but you can bet that ena definitely starts to use akito as her means of transportation. why waste time walking places when you could get your giant little brother to do so without problems?
i think akito might get a little scary when he's frustrated due to how big he is, but ena learns very quickly how to swoop in and calm him down. she'll sit in his hair and rub the top of his head, careful with every single movement she makes. it gets him to calm down easily (which ena may or may not tease him for)
i think that them inviting the other into their world would be really sweet. akito introducing ena to the rest of vbs as they all sit in his palms and chat while ena at least lets akito hang out with mizuki and her every now and then. mizuki likes to tease akito and call him "big lil bro"
i just think akito would be more protective over ena. even if she can fight for herself, he knows she has battles she can't face alone and he's more than willing to use his size to help her out. and even if she can't quite return the favor in the same way, you can bet she's working to protect him just as much
HELLO DO YOU HAVE SOME GIANT!TOYA HUMAN!AKITO HCS??????
yeah ofc!!
i imagine giant!toya to be like. the best way i can describe him is a big dog. a big dog that likes to follow akito around <3
he's a giant, so of course this comes with it's difficulties, but akito usually tries to stay in areas that are open for the big guy. toya appreciates being able to spend time with his little friend
he likes to scoop akito up, much to his protest. it becomes a habit though, and akito finds his favorite spot to be on toyas shoulders where he can talk to him much easier
toya is quiet, but he still sounds loud to humans, so he has to sing and talk even quieter than usual. there was one time where toya was loud and yelled at someone and it shook akito so much
he can't play arcade games himself, so toya usually asks akito to play them for him. this usually leads to akito showing just how bad he is at them, but toya could still beat him even at his giant size. don't ask him how
have yyou seen the cards for Tsukasa's fourth focus? If so then can I get some g/t for his card from that set?(with maybe a little ruikasa sprinkled in as well)
i have! they're very good <3 also i haven't read the event so im going off of vibes because the shadow/phantasmagoria is so fun...
i imagine shadow!tsukasa who travels along shadows. when he appears to people, he seems like a dream, something that doesn't exist. meanwhile, rui is someone who's able to see apparitions of sorts
as a tiny, he likes to sneak around, jumping from shadow to shadow with practiced ease. he's seen as a phantom, a rumored small shadow that people swear they've seen
he likes to watch humans move around, since his view on the world is through a dreamy filter. he moves back and forth and on his journeys, he "meets" various humans by sitting on their shoulders
one of these humans happens to be rui. he's bewildered by a sudden weight on his shoulders, and turns his head to see tsukasa staring right back at him
he's a bit bewildered, but finds himself fascinated by the little shadow. tsukasa realizes rui can see him but doesn't run, curious by this strange human
--
as a giant? he's even more mysterious, blending into bigger shadows and watching with careful eyes. he's a big looming shadow that people don't know what causes them
he keeps people in his shadow a lot, mostly because it keeps him company. humans are small, and sometimes he likes to mess with them just enough for them to think a ghost is messing with him
he picks rui as a target one day, and is surprised when the human turns to look him right in the eyes and ask what he was doing
rui definitely looked like he was talking to air, but he was the only one who could see such a large shadow. tsukasa wanted to know more about this human, and was visited by him often

Jack and the beanstalk but it's human!Minori and giant!Airi
YES!!!!!!!
minori who's family is poor and she tries to make money by selling things at the farmers market. after selling her prized cow she comes back home with "magic beans" which pisses off her family
but, luckily for her, those magic beans grow into a beanstalk! and being one of the fitter people around, she manages to climb up the beanstalk
when she gets up to the top, there's a huge castle before her. she looks around in awe, sneaking in and finding a huge table built to the proportions of a giant. very intriguing
she climbs up the table, only to start drooling at the sight of soooo much yummy food!! she starts gathering as much as she can carry, before she feels rumbles in the ground.
looking up, she makes eye contact with a huge giant, whose eyes narrow at the sight of her.
"eh? how'd you get up here?"
airi was more than confused at the little human standing on her table, but she sighed, rubbing her forehead with a small smile.
minori, meanwhile is so scared. was this giant going to hurt her? eat her? kill her? she had a family, a life to live!
but, much to her surprise, the giant bends down to look at her on the table, pointing to another meat dish.
"do you want some? i made too much."
minoris eyes go comically wide, and it takes everything within the giant to not burst into laughter. what an interesting human
minori is hesitant, but she ends up going over to the meat dish, taking a bite before her eyes go impossibly wider, sparkling as she looked up at the giant
"its so good!!"
airi smiles, knowing that she might have a new companion if the human wishes to be friends with her
and thus started the friendship between a poor villager and a giant in the skies
