âKeeping secrets? From you?â Rhys asked, almost a bit of hesitation lacing his words. He played it as safely as he could while looking over his friend still. Of course there was so much he could tell Max, arguably his best friend at Hogwarts these days, but he felt like he would have been instantly judged for some of the decisions heâs been making recently, so instead, he kept his mouth shut and just nodded at the next words. âShe would, wouldnât she. Iâd love to have her on our Quidditch team too.â Rhys added before Max went on. It seemed never-ending, and the Slytherin only stared, wide-eyed with a cringe. âI wouldnât tell her all of that. Sheâs still pissed about the whole thing.â There was a lot of tense feelings in that whole area of history, and the last thing they needed was a repeat of the Potter years. In fact, Rhys just liked to forget it even happened entirely. That was probably why Chloe and him got along so well. âPiers oughta be especially careful around her if he thinks heâs going to get any. Thatâs a piss-poor decision, and I think he knows it, but heâs always been one to play with fire and get burned.â  Rhys only stifled a part of a chuckle, not wanting to get too carried away with his thoughts on the subject, instead opting for something else to talk about. âMost handsome Slytherin, for sure, but most handsome Gryffindor? I think you might be int he running, but youâve got some competition too.â He cheekily added, getting away from the previous subject with a grin. As they left the room together, Rhys only glanced back to Max, surprise coating his face. âYou woke up next to Penelope?â He stared on like it was unusual. âPenelope, the one who doesnât have the guts to do anything bad, except apparently be madly in love with you?â Rhys could have gagged as he rolled his eyes. âHowâd you manage that, just say one word to her?âÂ
âMhmh.â Max muttered a a reply to that but didnât ask any further. Rhys would tell him when he was ready. âOh right she is the Quidditch girl.â Max remembered, he really should pay better attention. âNo, are you crazy. Iâm not looking to get slapped again. Or punched is more like it. That girl has a mean right hook.â he said while feeling his jaw like he could actually still feel something of it, but he was being srama queen as usual. âPlease, who would my competition be? The Potters may have inherited a legacy but certainly not the good looks.â he joked. âIâm the interesting American everyone loves to figure out.â he grinned. âI like Piers but I agree. Heâs an idiot, especially if he thinks heâs gonna get some of that. Because I tried. And she didnât want me. So she defintely wonât want Piers.â he stated rather confident. âYou and her are rather good pals arenât you?â
âYup.â he said with a smile. âShe brought me to my room after being drunk. I donât really remember that part but I certainly remember waking up to her face and making her an offer she just couldnât refuse.â he chuckled. He rolled his eyes. âShe has a little girl crush, sheâll get over it. Or not after what happened. I mean once you got a taste of the Max-love you donât really want anything else.â he said. âAnd only fifteen.â he smirked. âYeah, I think I said a total amount of five words for her before she was under my spell.â he smiled. âAlright, so which Hufflepuff table is it gonna be?â
