She wasnโt very good at telling time. As hard as sheโd tried to keep track, it hadnโt taken long for Connie to get lost in her own mind, as the minutes slipped by. Hopes and worries alike clouded whatever grip sheโd had on the time passing - but, regardless, she waited, as sheโd said that she would. Even if he didnโt return, as she partially expected would happen, she was determined to at least give Ash the benefit of the doubt.
She hadnโt entirely noticed the chill that had set within the house, as she sat, wishing there was a window she could draw on to, or something-
The door slammed open, earning a terrified shout from Connie. She jumped to her feet, ready to run, only to find-
ย โ Ash !ย โ a relieved smile broke on her face, although it was quickly replaced by a face of concern,ย โ Is somethinโ wrong ? Are you okay ?ย โ
๐tโs like his mind swam back to his senses, struggling in troubled water, but making it to find her be alright still in that safe room. Heโd shouted and she screamed, and if Ash didnโt know better heโd say that heโs paranoid, going insane. The truthโs more horrifying, there was something there hiding in the next corner or behind another door.
โIโm alright.โ He said, finally, after too many seconds of a dazed stare pointed at the girl, all while the door stopped swinging from the force heโd thrown at it.ย โWe gotta get outta here though.โ
Ash had that loaded rifle on him, that stump made of his right he was getting better used to; so, without much of a hand to hold out for the gesture.ย
Still, his eyesโd gone back from crazy to confident. โStick with me, no matter what.โ And his shoulder ached, pounded from slamming it, anyway, he took a deep breath. โGot that?โ
