🪐 "i have." he beams, leaning forward as if to tease gently. saul had set the limits of joking around with his ex, he knows not to risk crossing it if he wants to keep the healthy friendship they managed to maintain as of late. he settles back into his chair, settling into a more natural expression, "what you been up to lately?"

"Yeah sure." He reached into his pocket and handed her his lighter. "I didn't know you smoked. New habit?"

🚑  "my dirty little secret." it's mix of a humoured wince, she knows she shouldn't be joking about it. "you can keep a secret, yeah?"

⚽ "you telling me you weren't on your phone most of the time?" she's just teasing. aminata might be a callous person to most, but she couldn't be to venus. "well when you do explain it, you go on these tangents. which sure, is fun when you look like you're explaining a conspiracy theory, but the plot gets a bit lost in the sauce." a smirk dances on her lips, arms loosely crossed over her her chest, "every win is meaningful."

he leans in closer, until his nose is almost pressed against the mirror. he squints at the up-close view of his own face. " i'm not preening. i'm trying to figure out if these wrinkles have been there for a while, or if they clocked in fresh this morning. " he tells himself often he isn't afraid of getting old, but the reality speaks for itself. " you know what, it's probably the lighting. i'm totally fine. " he throws his hands up, forcing an easy grin as he turns to face her. " couple of drinks and i'll forget all about it. let's go. "

🎶 "you'll give yourself crows feet from squinting like that." it's probably not a very helpful thing to say, but one couldn't really say avani herself didn't have interest in her own vanity enough to think that way. "come on old man, if we get there before seven we might be able to get you your seniors discount!" she rolls herself up off the edge of the bed she'd slumped herself on, waiting.

⚓ riley shrugs, "i think knowing i build boats for a living beforehand kinda takes the wow factor away from it. like, yeah, you do this every day 'big-whoop' kinda thing." he's sure even if xavier wasn't exactly confident in his abilities to be a satisfactory wing man, it'd at least be entertaining to watch him try regardless. "yeah? good to hear. and so do you" some days he was amazed frankie even looked his direction, wondering what on earth she saw in him. he was thankful, and knew he shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. but for someone whose introspection erred more of the negative end of the spectrum, just knowing someone cared for him the way frankie did meant more than he'd probably ever be able to convey. "dude, don't give them any ideas."

🚑 josie leans in to glance inside the room next to them, weighing out whether her craving for sweets was worth dealing with a kid on a big sugar high running around the place. "at least i'll die doing what i love the most, eating."

🌿 "you're selling both your sofa and your car?" lucy's a little too focused on her meal to really catch onto to any subtle implications. "you moving overseas or something?" she can't think of any other situation where people simultaneously had to sell some of the biggest things in their homes.

🎶 "oh please — you should be thankful at least one of us has good taste." avani points, rather dramatically towards her chest. "that stuff will need you needing crowns put in." was she talking about the quality stuff, or the rip off alternative, that was up for debate.

🎶 avani blinks. she'd had so much going on in her life that she can't quite quantify what on earth ofie was going on about, "what?" she shakes her head, as if the movement would clear up any fog inside her mind. though the answer doesn't really clear up to avani on why the other woman seemed almost distraught, "ofie... it's normal for people to figuratively fall off the face of the earth for a little while."
