Ada gathered up a basket of little things: the vases of flowers, a small meal of fruit, bread and cheese, a small bottle of water, another of wine, a few candles and some matches to light them
Once these were all packed together she found a suitable walking stick, wrapped her shawl about her shoulders and headed out on foot, letting the fresh spring air carry her stiff, tired limbs.
It was slow going, but eventually she made it Odile’s Rest, a graveyard where the few patients she’d lost all lay together, peaceful. The meal she carried and the flowers were more for them than for her.
The three headstones all sat near one another, and Ada started to work with great care, clearing the brush and debris away before attempting to light her candles with shaking hands. The flowers had all been set out, the food and drink still sat in her basket, with her stick across her lap.
The presence of the living sent a twang through the cemetery’s magic, plinking off his own like a stone against a window. Not unpleasant, and from what Blair could tell, certainly far from malicious. The Grim’s watchful eye turned towards the visitor, and with hardly a thought, he moved amidst the headstones with ease.
For a time, he settled with simply watching Ada’s advance, unsure of whether or not he should make himself known. Some visitor’s didn’t mind, or even welcomed a bit of comfort, but he could never be sure... But seeing her attempts tugged at his metaphorical heart, and approaching with quiet, yet noticeable steps, he took in deep breath out of habit...
“Pardon me... ‘m sorry if I come off as a lil’ rude, an’ I’ll leave ya in peace if you want, but...”
For all intents and purposes, he looked to be a young man, of flesh and blood, but to a trained observer, there was something... ethereal there. Just enough to cast subtle doubt.
“Would ye like a bit o’ help, Miss?”
