Part 3
--------
Belmon had fallen asleep after only ten minutes of silence on the roof. Isui had her left hand in his hair massaging his scalp while he slept. Her nails were long, but she always kept them blunt for Belmons sake of head scratches...they were thick, and grew out almost like claws on her hands, naturally sharp. a lot of things she had were sharp. Her teeth, nails, even the points of the corners of her eyes looked like a sharp point. The horns that were at the side of her head, just above both of her ears, they were curved like a rams, but incredibly pointy at the end.
Anyways, Belmon shifted slightly in his sleep whenever Isui stood. She came to the edge of the ledge they sat on, stepping down onto the sloped roof. it creaked slightly under her feet, but it didn't cave in at all. She came to the very edge, getting onto her hands and knees and lifting herself downward, onto the roof hanging below the one she was on. She did this until she was near the ground. The last ledge was about 30 feet from the ground, connected to the back hall of the castle. Isui jumped down from it, landing oddly on her feet, which made her wince, but she walked it off shortly after. She was now at the cliffs edge, maybe another 50 feet from the ocean.
Belmon had soon dropped down beside her, his shoulders slumping, and his hair still messy from when Isui was messing with it.
"what are you doing?" Belmons voice was hoarse until he cleared his throat. he hated the feeling in his throat.
"Looking."
"at what?"
"the ocean?" Isui said in an obvious tone, rolling her eyes heavily.
"what for? whlas the view from the ledge not good enough?" Belmon asked, now coming to the edge and sitting down. his legs hung off the edge. Isui soon joined him. "you know Tijirn will have your head if he sees you outside like this."
"right." Isuis tone was Sarcastic and dry..it seemed as if she wasn't actually listening.
A moment of silence was held between the two for at least 5 minutes or more...The ocean was louder down here, and the wind was harsher, which caused Isui to close her eyes more than once to keep them from drying out horribly or watering. it didn't hurt, but that was always irritating.
....
silence.
....
a small seagull landed infront of Isui, then bit at its ankle. it's beak was a pale pink with brown spots at the nose, and it's feathers were white and black.
Isui reached her hand forward to touch it, but it nipped at her finger, making her gasp and pull her hand away. The tip of her finger was bleeding.
"ahh the damn bloke." Belmon said, waving his arms in the direction of the bird, which made it fly away. "must clean that up before it gets infected, who knows what the bird could be carrying."
"it's fine."
"it will get infected..."
"it's fine..." she said in a slightly more serious tone, which made Belmon sigh, but nod. Isui now had her finger in her mouth, sucking on the small wound that was on it. As she knew, it was nothing close to being a serious cut. she had been bitten by so many animals, than a mear bird didn't scare her.
another moment of silence.
....
......
........
"do you see how we can't see our reflection in the water?" Isui pointed down to the ocean. it was shallow where they were. "because it's rushing so fiercely against the rocks." She finishes. Belmon nodded.
"so?"
"so...I feel as I'd the ocean is similar to rage..you can't see the truth in rage. But, see," Isui pointed to the calm tide pool, which was closer to them. "you can see our reflections in the calm water."
"what are you saying?" Belmon laughed slightly.
"you can not see truth in the raging water, but when the water calms, clarity comes." Isui frowned. "but clarity can be tampered with." As she spoke, she tossed a small rock into the tide pool, making it ripple. "I have just messed up clarity."
"I..do not understand." Belmon said softly. "you are comparing nature to the mind, yet they are completely different."
"maybe my mind is a bit too obtuse for you." Isui laughed, though Belmon seemed to take offense to that. "I'm joking, Belmon. I guess I just don't make sense sometimes."
"sometimes?" Belmon laughed, but it made Isui rolled her eyes again. she found it unamusing. "joking, obviously.."
"right.." Isui Looked away, her eyes shifting back down to the water, which was slightly calmer than before. The seagulls were standing in the shallows, dipping their heads down in the water- probably searching for clams. There were none in this area. "Anyways." She said, standing back up and taking a step back from the edge. the wind picked back up and blew her hair back into her face. "Shall we walk? to our usual place?"
"near the courtyard?"
"no, the garden, across from the fountain."
"that's near the front though?" Belmon asked, raising his eyebrows to Isui. she acted as if there weren't a million courtyards in this area.
"we have one near the front?" Isui's eyes grew slightly larger, as if she were surprised by such a discovery. "no, the one by the lake- by the boarder or the capital walls. it has the green vines that reqch the very top." Isui sighed, running her hands down the dress she wore, flattening it on her legs. it was a yellow, silk night dress. "well?"
"I suppose." Belmon agreed, standing up and Taking Isui's hands, which were cold to the touch. He walked in front while she was pulled along behind him, her eyes wandering around to the trees, sometimes down to the ground, sometimes her eyes met the back of Belmons head, where she admired how nice his hair looked. for a man who was always working or in some kind of combat, his hair wad always tied up neatly so it didn't hang over his shoulders.
The courtyard was only a five minute walk from where they had been, which made it a good spot to sneak off to if they didn't want to be caught by anyone. after all, if she was caught, they may have her head.
The courtyard was small. it was only big enough to hold a small, round tea table, a few matching chairs, and a tiny area that looked like it was made for a children's marble game to be played. the stone wall circling around it was governed in grey moss and sun-bleached ivy vines, and the rock flooring of it was broken and covered in moss, vines, leaves, and parts of the stone was broken up from tree roots breaking through it. It was incredibly dreadful, but it meald many good memories.
Belmon pulled out one of the sun-bleached, metal chairs for Isui to sit down in, then he sat down in the one opposite from it. The tea table sat in between them.
"It gets worse everything we come." Belmom said in a soft tone.
"worse? it's just being taken back over by the earth, and there isn't anything wrong with that." Isui scratched her nail on a clod of dirt that was caked on the table. it was crusty and dry, so it scratched off when she touched it. "I like the look of it. it's natural and pleasant."
"looks dreadful to me."
"you look dreadful."
"right." Belmon sighed deeply, leaning back in his chair, his face in his hands. Isui had stood back up, and she now stood near the large capital wall, which was at least a hundred feet high. A large, tangled vine of ivy stretched all up and down the wall.
"how strong do you think these vines are?" Isui asked, turning her head slightly so she could look at Belmon from the side.
"probably not very strong.." Belmon groaned. "why?" He asked, looking up st Isui, who was halfway up the wall, climbing the vines. parts of it were creaking off and crumbling with her weight. Belmon stood up, looking up at Isui. "what are you doing?" he called up to her. he gained no response.
By the time Isui had reached the top of the wall, Belmon couldn't see her anymore. she was standing at the top, away from the edge. Belmon would of climbed up after her, but the ivy broke completely from his weight when he tried.
"Isui?" He called out one more time.
this time, a loud, airy, piercing sound was heard, and what looked like a bird flying over the wall came into view. it was an arrow. one from the archers. Belmon had gasped when he heard a screech, then, well, nothing. Isui had been hit, but he had no idea if it killed her or not. or if it shot her to the other side of the wall. It wad concerning.
