Here’s how I think Endgame could have ended and it would have been (in my opinion) WAY BETTER than just having old!steve show up.

Alright so the scene where Steve gets ready to bring all the stones back would be the same, but when Bruce counts down to bring him back someone actually comes back. Of course they have the whole quantum suit on with the helmet and everything so it’s not immediately obvious who it is (maybe they pan from from back and show everyone’s reactions to do more of a build up). But then the person retracts the helmet and it’s none other than...

Of course she would have some quip about it like “Did you know the soul stone has a return policy?” or something like that. Then when Sam, Bruce, and Bucky get over the shock and ask where the heck Steve is, Nat just gestures to old!steve sitting on the bench. *cue John Mulaney meme*
