I left a silly comment on the latest episode of OW: Undivided and I'm getting so much hate on it? I didn't know Gency was such a problematic ship. I've been here since the beginning of overwatch and I've enjoyed the ship since we got even just crumbs in the Archives. I'm not putting anyone else down by saying I enjoy this ship. So why am I getting so many dislikes and negative replies about Gency? I thought it was kind of like... one of the more I guess.. "default" ships. But people are telling me it's problematic and bad because it's straight? I understand the patient/doctor argument but I don't completely see them as that. I mean... they were coworkers the most I think. But my main argument for the patient/doctor thing is that... it's fictional? And there's a lot of nuance and grey areas within their relationship that I really enjoy. From my perspective it seems like people are hating me for liking it simply because.... they're straight? Why is that okay to hate on? I get disliking when people ship queer characters to MAKE them straight... but that's not... what's happening? You can headcannon the characters however you want, it doesn't bother me but like... don't attack others for not fitting into *your* opinions. I'm a queer person myself and ship primarily queer relationships both in OW and other media. But as soon as I support a straight ship I'm the bad guy? I don't understand. Anyone else have this happen? Maybe it's just the fandom space? Idk I try to stay away from fandom spaces because I don't like getting into petty arguments over nothing burgers like whether or not it's okay to ship two consenting adults that have been established in the past.
