Got back into riptide.. I have so much catching up to do... anyways have a multicolored Gillion because I couldn't choose a color palette

and not just implied canon either. not just an ambiguous confession that could be twisted to be platonic. not just subtext. not just a relationship confirmed by the creators after the fact. they are 100% undeniably canon.

they refer to each other as boyfriends. they talk openly with other characters about the fact that they're dating. they have an audible kiss. they say I love you in a way that is undeniably romantic. they openly flirt with each other.

and like. yeah canon is made up and whatever we want it to be yadda yadda. but like,, canon queer relationships, especially quality written queer relationships, are just,, RIDICULOUSLY hard to come by for some reason and jmart's relationship is so refreshing to me, especially because you can tell the writers actually care about it

and they're not the only ones! there's a canon lesbian couple! there are canon trans characters! there are literal statements with themes of transness and queerness and how that impacts people's experiences! there are explicitly queer background characters/relationships! jon is canonically asexual! (and jon's asexuality could be a whole other post for me—it feels so monumental as an asexual person to see somebody who is both canonically asexual and still has genuine romantic relationships)

What really kills me about this scene is how different their facial expressions are. Crowley is devastated, you can see it so clearly. He wants it to be different, but knows that it can't be.

As he wrote, he spoke aloud:

for years, he harped on about how Good Omens fans were the best fans; he recognized and acknowledged the import these characters have for us. and refusing to release his stranglehold upon S3, he ensures that:

• Mutt dies of an apparent overdose, leaving his beloved spouse widowed

• Maggie and Nina are pushed out of Whickber Street, location unknown, never to be mentioned again

• Crowley and Aziraphale never meaningfully reconcile; their relationship is dictated to and mediated by a cruel God, to the point of obliteration

we recognized NG for what he is, however much it hurt, because ultimately we believe that justice and humanity and truth count for something. we believe in making things right, not in some distant universe, but here, now: on earth as it is in heaven, as the son of a carpenter once said.

this is what makes me ask: is S3 about resolving the story, or a grudge? and when you cut away Michael and David's game performances, it's pretty glaringly obvious that this thing was authored in malice.
