Listening to Andie go on was tiring, Paxton was surprised she’d put up with it for this long, however there was something that was amusing to her. Doing good things for the Church was what Andie did and nothing said helping the community like taking the local kids away for the final week of the holidays. A warm smile graced his lips as he looked at her, still so very taken by her beauty. As much as he didn’t want to, he let go of her body and took a step back, “I’ll see you later. Room 43.” Oliver leaned down and placed a kiss against her cheek before he backed away and made his way back over to his family, taking Andie’s hand in the process and dragging her for a dance, a wide grin across his face.

After a few more hours everything had begun to really settle, Andie and Paxton had just left the venue to begin the start of their honeymoon. The party was wrapping up, guests beginning to file back to their rooms. Oliver had said goodnight to his family and began to make his way to room 43. There was a haste in his step, he was excited to see Ruby again. He couldn’t take his mind from her. How they clicked so well, how beautiful she was. “She’s wonderful. She mentioned all of you briefly. We spoke a lot about the importance of the little photo albums and the pictures as well as the table layouts. She never mentioned her older brother was such a hotshot though.” Ruby teased as she took in a deep, relaxed breath and continued to stroke his chest. “My sisters and I are still close. We meet up yearly over the Christmas holidays when we go away to Europe. It’s sort of a tradition we’ve developed. and we have too many group chats that we flood with messages until the others reply.” She laughed lightly and nodded in agreement. Ruby was a busy woman and she had very little time for thinking about children. She had thought about them and with her older sister pregnant with her second child, she at least had spent time around little ones. She wanted to be a mother but just wasn’t there quite yet. A few more years in the business and maybe someone to have them with and she’d be ready. 

“No, I haven’t. I grew up in the city so we didn’t really get out to the sticks much and when I moved down here I tended to keep my city habits. With the right person. “My favourite food? I love curries and ramen bowls. You don’t really get them around here but I’ve grown a real soft spot for such of the local cuisine. What do you like?” She asked, wondering why he was taking his time to ask such nice questions. It was refreshing. “She’s a Goldendoodle. She’s very sweet and loves to give kisses. I spoil her too much but she’s adorable so it’s hard not to.” She leant her head against his chest briefly and then looked up at him. “You, Oliver. You.” She wasn’t bashful. “They’re really sweet. The photo albums, I mean.” He loved the idea honestly. The way they that Paxton looked at Andie as if she was the only and most important thing in the world. They’d laid their love out in pictures. “Hot or hotshot?” He smirked at her. It was nice to hear that she was close to her sisters, obviously he knowing himself how important he felt it was to be involved in his sibling’s lives. “I’m glad to hear you guys are close, even if you don’t get to see each other too much.”

Oliver wasn’t surprised that the woman had grown up in the city. He wondered if she realised how much fun she was missing out on, unless it wasn’t something she was interested in trying. “I’m sure this habits can be hard to shake, it’s complete different worlds. Clear night skies, they’re pretty impressive too.” He laughed at her joke with the image of someone who thought walking in dirt with heels was a good idea. “You lost a heel, huh?” He nodded, “If you’re interested in trying, I’d love to take you sometime, maybe dinner by a campfire?” Ollie loved food, it didn’t matter what it was he would eat it.”You’ve got great taste. I wouldn’t say I have a favourite, I’ll eat pretty much anything. Homemade meals though, there’s just something about them.” He shook his head, “There’s nothing wrong with spoiling your dog, she sounds like a beautiful dog. I want to eventually get a working dog I haven’t quite decided on a breed but it’s always been something I have wanted, especially moving here.” As Ruby leant into his chest, Ollie moved his hands to gently move up and down her back, he eyes were set on her and he smiled at her words, “Looks like I am one lucky guy.” His head looked around to find Andie looking at the two of them, not too far behind his mother. Not exactly what he needed when talking to someone he found attractive. She’ll have questions already lined up for him. He nodded his head at her suggestion, “I’ll be there, I’d very much like that. It’s been a pleasure to have been in your company tonight, Ruby. You look stunning, just in case you forgot.” With that he pressed a kiss to her cheek and allowed her to go as much as he didn’t want to leave her. He made is way back to his family and pulled his sister into a dance.

“So you’re over here trying to big me up for pulling a wedding together when you, good sir, are a bit of a big shot.” Ruby teased with raised eyebrows and an overly surprised dramatic smile. She could tell just by touching and looking at him that he worked out and she’d definitely have guessed athlete but to hear it confirmed was definitely good. NFL wannabe too? Wow, he kind of was a big deal. And he had experienced the business and wasn’t just as some testosterone junkie on the field. Not that she was really against that but she liked a smart head on shoulders as well as a handsome one. “That’s very sweet of you. I’m sure she loved that a lot. I have two sisters as well but we live really far apart. I do keep in touch with them though but we are all very busy. I organised my younger sister’s wedding actually.” Her smile was softer now and she shuffled closer to him…if possible. 

When his lips came close to her ear, a tremble went through her entire body and she felt herself press against him more. All strength and firm body she wanted to grip at. But she recovered as quickly as she could and kept his gaze. He could sneak her off wherever he wanted. “That’s definitely a big ol’ heart in these, isn’t it? Off-road trucking and having fun. A pure little life, Oliver…” Her hands rubbed over his firm chest, the press of her palms now not so light but not enough to really disturb the fabric. He was easy to touch. “Oh I’m a big food fan. I like to try one new restaurant every week. And I have a dog that I love a lot. She’s called Sage.” She chewed her lip and pressed her chest against his as best she could. “And handsome men that grab my attention at weddings. Not that they do usually…”

Oliver chuckled and shook his head, playing down her compliment, “I wouldn’t exactly say that, maybe in a past life.” He didn’t miss the life he left behind. He felt as if he had once again picked up his life from where it left off before he moved away to college as a four star recruit. He grew up playing football, it was all he ever knew. He wasn’t the smartest at school but he worked hard to get what he wanted and what he needed. He enjoyed the business side of things, earned him a comfortable amount of money. “I hope so.” He glanced over at his sister for a moment, still wrapped up in her new wife, Paxton whispering something in her ear causing her to giggle, “She’s the baby of the family but I’d like to think that we were as close as we could have been at a younger age and to be honest, I just missed being around members of my family.” He listened to her speak about her own family and he nodded in understanding, “Life kinda throws everyone in different directions, kinda makes you realise all the time you took for granted when you were younger. I hope when I have kids they’re close, nothing beats that friendship and love that siblings have for each other.”

As he moved closer to her, it was becoming harder to control the urge to just kiss her. He knew he couldn’t though. His tried his best not to let his mind drift to the fact they were practically pressed up against each other. He wouldn’t admit to her that he’d already thought about having his way with her. It was a wedding after all. It’s as if it puts a spell on people to shack up for the night, She was beautiful, smart and kind, something he found so incredibly sexy. “Pure. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Have you ever done anything like that, off road trucking?” Her hands on his chest wasn’t the only place he would have minded them roaming. He closed his eyes for a moment trying to come back to the moment and not focus on her hands on his chest. Oliver raised an eyebrow, “What’s your favourite kind of food?” He smiled at the thought of a dog, that was one of the next things he had planned to do. Get himself a working dog. “What kind of breed is she?” He was curious, he wanted to know as much about her as she felt comfortable telling him. Ollie smirked at her final words, “Any handsome man in particular?”

“Wise? I wouldn’t say wise.” Ruby chuckled, rolling her eyes softly as she continued to just watch him. She took a moment to follow his gaze, absorbing the happy faces that weddings so easily beckoned in. There was a glow around people when they came to events like this and Ruby had been in the business for long enough now to know it wasn’t just booze. Wine helped but….everyone just found the concept of love so beautiful. Little kids dancing to songs that had been written decades before they were born. People drawn together on tables that they’d never usually have interacted with. And sometimes a magical moment that would seem surreal anywhere that wasn’t a wedding. Weddings had the mystic allure of a New Year’s Evening, as if anything could happen and new beginnings could occur. “Teenage boys? Are you a teacher at a boys school?” She paused and chewed her lip. “Or a coach? You said team..” 

His words made her feel warm. He was so strikingly handsome and charming. His arms felt so strong around her body but he was also…getting to her. She could feel her heart thumping faintly but she felt secure enough to know she had it completely under control. “The money is pretty good too. But mainly it’s about the smiles and the magical moments.” And when he held his gaze, it felt like one. Her hands slipped lower, softly rubbing her chest. Beautiful. Such charm. With a grin, she tugged his collar ever so faintly. “I’ll RSVP to that invitation with a year but I think it would be mean to steal the moment from the happy couple around your family…” Her smile was almost bashful. “Tell me more about you, Oliver. What do you enjoy?”

Oliver nodded in confirmation at her questions, “I’m the head coach of the high school football team and overlook the sports program.” He warmly smiled at her, “I was working out with an NFL team a few years ago, didn’t quite make the cut so I moved to sports management for numerous years before deciding I wanted to take a break, bring everything in my life down to something a little simpler. I sold everything and moved back to the country to be closer to my sister.” He hadn’t intended to giver her half of his life story however it seemingly just fell out. “Growing up, family was really important and there was a time I felt I had lost touch with that but it was the best decision I’ve made.”

 He nodded in understanding, he wasn’t surprised the money was good. “I like that, you know, that you’re in it for the smiles. As I said, it’s obvious you have a big heart.” Ollie couldn’t help but shoot her a goofy grin as she tugged on his collar, his heart racing. His grin widened following her words, “Good to know.” She was right though, he couldn’t take the attention away from his sister, especially when everyone knew he was single. He leaned down into her ear, “Remind me to sneak you off somewhere in that case.” The smile across her face was one of the most genuinely beautiful smiles he had ever seen, “I enjoy being involved in sports and family but my interests are heavily outdoor orientated. I love camping, riding dirt bikes, taking my truck off road, just having fun really. I don’t want to be that guy that takes life so seriously because where’s the fun in that. I just like the simple things because sometimes they’re the most beautiful.” He placed a little pressure from his hands on her hips, “What about you? Besides all of this?”

Andie: My father feels like you can still be saved. I tell him he's wasting his time. Those poor children will be exposed to you...

Andie: But yes i'll be there. they need some guidance.

Andie: So what if it is? I like it.

Andie: Creep.

Paxton: Yeah well I tried to spare them, he wasn't having it.

Paxton: I can guide people, I'm not completely useless. I'm sure looking over a bunch a kids can't be that hard.

Paxton: Yeah, right. I bet that musky moth ball smell really gets you going.

Paxton: Three minutes. That's all it took this week, Cinderella.

Paxton: Your father roped me in to some youth group volunteering shit. Something about taking kids to a lake. I couldn't really say no to his face. I assume you'll be there.

Paxton: I bet your swimsuit will be something from your grandmother's collection.

“Well, those two are the loveliest couple I’ve ever met. But do not tell my other customers because they might be offended by my favouritism. Not that I tend to see them after they’re married. Divorce parties don’t attract my attention quite as much.” She smiled widely at him, following his gaze for the moment that it settled on the happy couple. Ruby had always been very endeared by family. She had two sisters of her own but they had moved all across the country and they rarely saw one another. With busy lives, it was sometimes easy to forget about the people that had once been closest. “Oh, I know my ability. Don’t worry about that. You don’t stay popular in this business if you’re not worth anything to someone.” It had been a struggle when she’d started out. She’d been a bit lost. But after some guidance and some recommendations she’d done well for herself. 

“Well, I do like to look after myself.” She admitted, understanding where his toned comment came from but refusing to miss a moment to make a comment about her body. She liked looking after it. Made time to eat well and cook. “You’ve just met me, Oliver. That poor man might be in for an absolute nightmare. We should be perhaps apologising and praying for him ahead of time.” She was finding herself more drawn into the way he spoke. Strong and firm against her but with such gentle, heartfelt words. And she felt the way she was drawn more into his body and she sighed gently and slipped her hands down to his strong shoulders. “If I don’t know how a wedding works by now then I should be really concerned.” She whispered, squeezing his back ever so lightly. “You have wonderful eyes. And lips. From an aesthetic point of view, they’re very easy to look at, Oliver.” 

Ollie smiled at the compliment of the couple, the two were some of the most genuine people he had ever met. “Your secret is safe with me.” He laughed at her statement of divorce, “I’m not surprised by that, I wouldn’t have thought they’d be too popular.” Ollie looked around all of the guests, his famly among them, it wasn’t often he saw them but it was always so important, had being brought up big on family. He loved that she knew she was good at what she did. “You’re quite wise, huh? You’re right though, however I’m sure it’s not easy at times. I know I struggle to keep a team full of teenage boys in line when they think they’re gods gift to women.”

A smile immediately made it’s way too his face. “I can tell.” He tried his best not to allow his mind to go places it shouldn’t in that moment. “Nah, he’ll know what’s good for him otherwise I’m sure he doesn’t deserve someone special. And you know, first impressions are always the most important, so yeah, I just met you but I already see you’ve got a big heart, I mean, why else would you be in this business.” Ollie could feel himself getting lost in the moment, getting drawn into her. He caught her eyes with his own, big beautiful brown eyes, a soft face. The compliment had him blush in the slightest way. “Yeah? And you’re just simply beautiful, Ruby.” He led them in the dance, not taking his eyes from her, “They’re just as soft as they look to, I’ll leave an open invitation for you to test that statement.”
