“Don’t be a smarty pants. But those aren’t really used for kitchens much. Especially with the color scheme we have here. It would look off a little.” He was a perfectionist so he hadn’t really registered what undoing all of Grant’s work would mean to him. Gabriel turned to his husband and took everything in from him. He didn’t know what the other was feeling or how he even felt about them.
He knew that Grant had issues connecting with others and so did he when he first came about, but he learned to love and he was still convinced he could push Grant to see that love - but he knew it was still hard for the other. He just hoped the man cared for his children. Making a note to actually talk to the children about their father being back in town. “Have you talked to them?” He asked softly. Fearing the answer would be ‘no’.
“IF THEY ARE PLAYING VIDEO GAMES, I’M COMING UP THERE AND KICKING THEIR ASSES.” He shouted so the kids could here and instantly here rattling and movements around. He moved to pull Grant’s hand, pulling the other to him. “They missed. We all missed you. I guess we all felt like… you don’t want us.” He looked down, but kept Grant close to him.
“What’s so hard? Grant literally there are a lot of women who husbands don’t help them with decorating. And according to Emma, I’m the woman here.” He chuckled. “Grant…” he sighed and rolled his eyes. “I hate when you say things like that.” He pushed away and walked back towards there room. “I’m still here and been faithful all this time. That means you’re the one I want and deserve. So please stop with that crap.”
Grant didn’t have to answer the question. Had he spoken to his kids? No. Did the idea of that terrify him? Yes. Would he admit that? No. He’d push it off for as long as he could. If his kids were anything like Gabriel, they’d eventually come invade his space looking for that father-child moment that Grant feared he couldn’t give them.
He snapped out of his musings at the house, brow raising. “You’re the woman?” He repeated. His hand moving around his husband so he was holding him against his body. He leaned down to kiss the other firmly at the words, still unsure why exactly he had stayed faithful this entire time.
