The 1st person narrator said something in their head that contradicted precious information and behavior.
I yelled "liar" at them.
What was actually happening --- no one cared enough about the creation of this book to catch the 2nd time the writer accidentally included contradictory information. And this was*absolutely* not intentional.
Context:
(1) the only way I know to skim in an audiobook is to crank up the speed of play back. So unlike skimming a visual book you still have the potential to absorb everything. When I skim in a visual book I look for key words (so I don't miss a death). So I may have missed this if I was visually reading this book.
(2) 1st person narrator with lots of inner thoughts access. They are a reliable narrator this far.
(3) I'm already annoyed with the book but I'm invested in the plot.
