Don't worry 'bout no time we can always come back to right now...
Hi! This is my side blog and it's for sharing retro aesthetics, vintage photos and videos, abandoned places, and just anything old that intrigues me. It's mostly for art inspiration.

Adjacent to the Sands was the Carousel Motel, a motel-store property and perhaps the ugliest structure on the Strip. For over 50 years it was positioned out of most tourist photos.
Timeline.
'42: Opened as Park Lane Motel, an 8-unit auto court, by Theodore "Ted" Couch.
'49: A store is built in front of Park Lane.
'53: Carousel Motel, 44-units, and storefront Merry-Go-Round bar open on the south side of the property. Park Lane appears to be integrated into the Carousel Motel property. Possible owner George W. Frisby.
'68: Wishing Well Chapel operates in the former Merry-Go-Round storefront.
'70s: The Park Lane units are demolished circa '70-'71. A man is electrocuted swimming in the pool in the early 70s.
'73: Renamed El Cuardo Motel. Owner Staney Korman, Anzwool Inc, is denied permission to build a high rise on the site.
'74: Renamed Sand Dunes Motel, new owner Howard Hughes, Summa Corp. (Summa may have sold the property to Las Vegas Sands Corp. in the late 80s.)
'90: Sand Dunes Motel is closed and soon demolished. Most of the property is fenced off and used for storage by Las Vegas Sands Corp. The storefronts remain.
2004: The storefronts are demolished. The property is redeveloped as part of the Palazzo, the southernmost point of its driveway.

I just wanted to add this quote from the peppermint patty peanuts wiki page about Charles M. Schulz and his relationship with his gay cousin. The source here leads to a book that I did not read but the original source is Schulz's wife who confirmed this in an interview. If I can find the interview again I will link it here but uh. just in case someone tries to claim Schulz was a homophobe on this post again.
